Hard market to break into, especially when your primary focus is not radar detectors. I for one would stick with a dedicated radar detector company like Escort or Valentine1. Plus the price would be prohibitive to develop and purchase. By that's just my 2 cents.
My wife thinks Noah or Shay would be good names too becasue she thinks it sounds good with your last name. Hope this helps. Are you thinking of middle names too?
I've done 600 miles of driving in 2 days. That's a great deal, especially for me. I wedge my GPS (hand-held unit) up on the dash under the windshield. It gives me my Speed, ETA to waypoints (I set at intersections of major highways so i dont drivepast them day dreaming) as well as a mile-to-waypoint readout. It also gives me fun stuff like heading, vertical velocity (ft/min) etc. Then I looked at my radar detector and I lightbulb went off.
Why not combine a GPS puck and a radar detector. USB it. I know it's a bit of work, but to have a built in radar detector that mutes music to alart you. And a GPS that mutes your music and lets you know your 2 miles to an exit, or aturn or whatever.
GPS will work under most windshields. If it doesn't look like a radar detector maybe the VA cops wont kill me. Ok, and since your at this, toss an FM antenna in it and poof, and all-in-one MMC custom dash-puck.
Just a thought. I thought it was a good one, but I had been driving a while. But if it interfaced with MMC right, you could offer it along with your software for retail.
We have been kicking around the idea of creating some sort of Radar/GPS "hybrid" that would log common false alarms and eventually ignore them in those places, and also log speed traps for other users that can get that info from a wireless connection.
Of course it's not going to be easy. But it seems to me to be a product that could be very useful to many Carputer users.Quote:

Such is true for OPUS, etc. I wish there was a way to mod my radar detector to pre-empt any MP3s.Quote:

Would like to hear some suggestions since this is going to be included in Alpha 5 and is pretty much the last thing I have to do before release... so now you are all holding me up! :p
Well, how 'mini' are we talking? It's hard to touch the right thing on these screens when you're paying 100% to the road and 5% to the screen :)
