Mini enough to run external apps but still control music, etc. It will be large enought to see and control, but not so large that it makes it hard to use other software. Screen corner would be configurable per app link...

please let us choose what edge of the screen this mini-bar (yeah, a minibar in my car!) will live. if i had buttons across the bottom of my screen, i'd have to shift gears to be able to reach them - when i'm in 1st 3rd and 5th gears the stick shift is only about 2" away from the screen. anything across the top or left side of my screen works a lot better than the bottom. if it could be a windows "tool bar" thing kinda like how AIM and ICQ will "dock" to the side of the screen then you maximize an app and it doesn't cover up your toolbar, that would most likely be ideal. just as long as it doesn't auto-hide! that way you can maximize gps/nav, netstumbler, or whatever, while leaving music controls at one edge of the screen. my choices would be:

playing time, play/pause (single toggle button), next, prev, shuffle (and indicator), and of course a maximize button to bring it back full size.

What about a toggle button for which corner or side of the screen to go to? So lets say you open an app and the mini mode is getting in the way, you could just hit the screen position button to make it change positions to a different corner of the screen?

O, and by the way... I NEED THIS RELEASE:-)

WOW.. This is a tough one because everyones set up is different. I don't need volume control because I do it though the Head Unit so I would like to see song title display with time, play/pause, forward, previous, and return. Thats four buttons, easy to keep little, but if most people want it include at least a mute in case of phone call or cops or whatever.

I think that the slickest solution was how media car handeled (although it wasn't perfected yet).

MediaCar embedded applications into mediacar itself and had a bar on top so that you can close the application or switch back to the main screen (and leave the program running)

The problem with mini mode is this. I have frodoplayer load up in mini mode everytime i launch my GPS application which is is Copilot 7 live. The problem is that the mini mode is always in the way. Secondly i get to see my desktop for about 5-10 seconds while Copilot loads which is very annoying and un-professional looking.

So I would like to see something like that from you guys. Maybe along with mini mode. But i think that is the slickest solution.

The players should have movable and resizable buttons with a save profile feature that way we can put things the way we personally like them

I agree with Antimatter that an embedded app looks much cooler than a mini-mode.

Since we are talking about mini-mode however, how 'bout a mini-mode that has a window shade feature where it disappears after 10-20 seconds, but a button is left to bring it back (maybe tap 1 time for mini-mode and double for the full app).
