WOW, $179.00? Thats alot. I bought my Vistean back in the days for $69.99. I hear you can still get the Directed for under $100.00 but you really have to look. I solved my line in issues with Mitch's USB Audio Selector. It allows me to connect XM and HD Radio to a single port. I cant recall how much that cost me.... I think $55.00?

Has anyone compared the audio quality compared to the Visteon and this unit? Also another thing to take into effect is some systems don't play nice with certain USB devices. With the Visteon solution, you know its going to work, even though it works through Serial or the Mp3car adapter. On my setup with 21 + USB devices, I have to really pick and choose what I connect or the device or the system doesn't work.....

Again, you're comparing NEW product to used/refurbished/closeout product. You cant buy a visteon/directed unit from crutchfield for 60 bucks.

The sound quality matches the quality of my Directed product, and the simplicity of wiring/controlling one line vs. two is very helpful.

I doubt you will find a scenario where the Boomzbox will interfere with other usb devices. At a recent car meet i won the TPMS kit for having 17 usb devices. Boomzbox played just fine with all of those.

OOPS, I hate that MP3Car cant email me when someone responds. It all depends on the hardware though. Just because it works on yours doesnt it will work on others. I have 30 usb devices in my setup and I had to pick and choose devices to get them all to play together. I mean if it works then cool, but is one extra wire really that big of a deal?

Yea, but for some of us that extra wire is the difference between listening to Radio in mono thru the Mic line and full digital stereo! (Kinda why I've had a Silabs since before they were offered commercially.)

OK I know this won't get me any friends and doesn't look great as a first post(I've been lurking for some time now ), but I guess I am compelled to join the bandwagon. . .

Right now I am just researching what I may eventually do for a system. I thought HD radio - awesome. Then I saw the price and thought HD radio . . . NOT awesome.

Now get me straight here . . . people who sell a product can sell that product at any price point they choose and that is their right. By picking a price point they also pick their clientele. If they want the masses to buy it, they have to pick a price point the masses find attractive. CLEARLY at least some of the masses have determined that this is not a product for the masses. I may eventually find it as part of my solution, but it is WAY down on the list now.

I am not knocking your choice to price it where you want, but please understand - every decision has a consequence. I don't give a rat's rear end what the other receivers cost - I won't be buying this one based on price. Ignore other products and consider (I'm sure you already have), what niche do YOU want to fill.

You may say, I can't price it lower because cost of production/licensing have put it at the price it's at. Fine - maybe the time is not right for this technology to be universally accepted. Just accept that as the seller, and we as the consumers don't have a choice; we in the market we're in will find other options more suited to our budgets/priorities.
