Ipad is a nice device but Itouch/Iphone can do the same work and costs less.

Amazing! The guy used a simple $10 motor.

+1 for that install! He must have a dock of some kind on the end of it but I can't tell from the video. Nicely done, though!

OK finally got to see it. The motor is just a simple servo motor, which makes all the sense in the world. I designed one that just connected to a pin pull for a remote activation of a test I was doing at work. Simple forward/reverse controls. You run the risk of burning out the servo if you hold it down too long, but hey, it's a $10 piece. The enclosure is the cool part.
What I'd like to see is what some of these guys come up with in sedan sized vehicles. So far everything that I consider well integrated has been done in SUVs/trucks -- vehicles with large dash areas that can accommodate the iPad in landscape as well as portrait mode. Small cars are facing a different set of restrictions, as I know the iPad won't fit in landscape mode unless you want to cut into the dash (a la the "2nd iPad in car ever" video).
I know what you mean. I have an 02 Passat with a Kenwood DDX8019 and I've been trying to figure an in-dash setup as well.
The only way I see a fit is if I get some specialist to reroute all the dash components to another location. Then somehow get the DDX8019 to sit further into the back of the dash. After that get that motorized iPad dock setup from the video to go over the DDX8019. If I could find the "Pimp My Ride" dudes from MTV it could happen.
