iPad - System Wide Voice Control

    Embed this video

Ok so it's not true system wide access, but pretty darn close. Using a few apps, and a little jailbreak action, Justin Riley shows us how to control some basic functionality with just voice. Here we demonstrate adjusting the iPod, finding a place to eat, and even posting a tweet.

Open your mind and imagine when iOS 4 comes out and vlingo can be backgrounded. The goal of vlingo is to allow any developer and their application to use the vlingo voice recognition engine to do whatever the developer wants with voice. So eventually everything you ever wanted to do will be able to do with voice.

(p.s) still don't text and drive, even if you can do it with your voice!

Very cool! I didn't know there was vlingo for the iPad. I'll go check it out.

(BTW It's me or there is a small problem with the audio? Everything seems to come from the left channel/subwoofer (I checked on my side, but if it's just me, than I'll double check).Maybe something to look for on future videos)

How well does this work with the car moving? Sitting parked no problem, once you introduce wind noise it drops accuracy dramatically or is this not the case with the iPad?

Doesn't work well with the window open. But works pretty well when everything is buttoned up.

Did a few road tests over the last few days. Didn't try vlingo, as trying to send an e-mail w/ the window down is just obnoxious. All tests were "Play Artist <insert artist name>"

However, with all 4 windows down:
60 mph: hit or miss. It worked sometimes, didn't others.
50 mph: solid every time. You have to talk kinda loud, but it works.
40 mph: understood me at a normal volume level.
over 60 mph: YELL REALLY LOUD... and it still won't work.

If it's > 70 deg and < 95 deg, I rarely drive with the windows up. All about the natural AC.
