If you remove the headunit (at least on my 08) and don't get a special harness, your door chimes won't work. The special harness basically listens for gmlan "chime" messages. The chime noise didn't provide me anywhere near 90% of my entertainment aspect. I have heard of other non-gm vehicles where they had to stash the stock headunit in the trunk and keep it connected to the (iirc MOST) network or else bad things would happen (ie a dead battery). Oh, also the Pontiac G8 GT has the HVAC controls in the headunit. But people have found there way around that pretty easily.

As for not covering X. Presentations where only supposed to be 30 mins or so. If he were to even attempt to cover all that the auto industry has done, we'd probably still be listening to him today...
