I'm not sure. They were supposed to have another PC in the tailgate for tuning. They were scrambling at the end to get everything together. I'm sure the guys computer whizz girlfriend will eventually mess around with it to make it boot faster. As far as I know they put it in as is straight from dashboard devices.

    Here's the truck's website- http://projectpitboss.com/
I actually met the builder's mom and dad while I was filming. Real nice people, and of course, very proud. They didn't have the cover up, but he did mention that there was another PC there for tuning.

Yes, the video was edited. It's was clear that they didn't have a lot of time to tune the installation, or test it much on the show floor. I really just wanted to demonstrate that the PC was functional and not just a mock-up. I wouldn't think that the performance seen in the video is indicative of a production model. Having worked on a Centrafuse project for Visteon at this year's CES, I know how difficult it can be getting a box ready for a major trade show.

Assuming I could float a second mortgage for gas, I'd take it in a heartbeat. It's a beautiful truck and an excellent PC implmentation.

    Cheers!

You'd be ok with the mileage. I think it was pushing close to 30mpg with the diesel. I remember seeing that truck for the 1st time after he got it and it was taller than me (I'm 6'8"). And then a couple of weeks later I was taller than it by a few inches. I haven't seen it finished in person yet. It makes me want a dumped dually for sure. If I could get the deal he got on the car I'd rock it.

Haha, I didn't notice it was a diesel. I'd still have to knock out a wall in the house to fit it into my garage.

On one level, SEMA is all about the big corporate sponsors and all the latest gear. But a lot of the vehicles are built by smaller shops or (in some cases) individuals and they represent a significant investment of time and talent. It's FUN to see your work on display and appreciated. I know I felt that way at CES with my little contribution, and I'm sure everyone connected with the truck feels the same way.

For those that love all things automotive, this is Mecca (can I say that?) If you have any legitimate connection to the auto industry (such as writing for a carPC blog, selling automotive computing equipment, writing software for automotive PCs...hint, hint), put in your application for next year. You won't regret it. It's better if you have a registered company, but not required. The worst that happens is, they say no.

    Cheers!

You'll find the Batmobile, the Munster Koach, some cool bikes and lots of great cars. Of special interest is Dashboard Devices' contribution to a very nice Ford F-350 Super Duty. Lots of slick integration and Centrafuse onboard. Here's a very lame video (new camera and no planning make for that)

Whoa, thanks for all the pictures. And you found a carpc, good! Kind of slow though. Small screen for a big dash too. But hey, if it's a real custom it should have a carputer on it, not your off the shelf alpine screen, so kudos to that.

Only if you have corporate sponsorship and the corporation has a booth to display your vehicle in.

That's cool, went to LA and back keeping the Sequoia cruiser stuck to 83mph as much as I could down highway five (with 5 sec bursts to 95 or so for passing safely), manage to get 16mpg on the 600mile trip. Around town I get 11mpg.

I really don't care much about mileage, maybe since I lived in Europe (earning the same money) and had to pay like $8-$9.00 per gallon (equivalent) so $3.00 per gallon is no biggie really. I do know how Europeans buy M5 and sport cars in general, I know trucks they can't afford really (those who live in the countryside and have space to park).

I really like the orange touches on that truck. I wanted to have my Sequoia lowered, but wife wants it as it is or higher. So I really need bags but aftermarket bags are made for chevys with low tech rigid differentials, there's nothing for body on frame trucks with independent rear suspensions (like the Sequoia/Lexus LX).

And how do I get the corporate sponsorship? I'd like to do something outrageous to my Sequoia, doubt I can find anyone who thinks a Sequoia is cool enough to invest on it though...

I love the car though, best overall car I've ever had, bar none.
