The only board i owned that supported it was an archaic epia 800 itx board. Most of the graphic adapters today aren't going to support a resolution that low.

I can see it being an issue with laptops/netbooks. Generally they use LVDS for the monitors. That can limit the supported resolutions. Also the general thinking of the MFG's of these devices is that if you are connecting a screen to them you are going larger not smaller so they dont include support for lower resolutions.
You can check to see if there is a BIOS update for your specific device. Often board MFG's, especially Intel, dont include 800 x 480 support in the initial launch of a board.
Did you try power strip at all?

To everyone who has been waiting for the Mini Touch H bracket and DIY double DIN kit to become available I am sorry for the delay. The H brackets are now listed here.
I will have the DIY kits up as soon as I am done editing some pics. We will have 3 versions of the kit for sale.
The basic kit will have everything you need to build a monitor out, but will not include a H bracket or Double DIN frame. It is intended for people who want to do something totally custom.
The second kit will include all of the monitor parts and the custom H bracket. It is intended for users who already own the Bybyte frame, but want to use it with the Mini Touch 700.
The third kit will be the complete one with all monitor parts, H bracket, and Double DIN frame w/ USB port.
If you dont want to do it yourself we will have an assembled one as well.

Nvidia control panel lets you specify exact resolution. However, after I set the resolution and run the auto adjust, every 10th column of pixels or so seems a bit off. Because of that, letters will look like they are smudged in parts. Nvidia lets you get pretty specific with manual settings, so if you can advise as to what values I should use, I could give that a shot:

P.S. this is taken from my desktop, hence the 1080p resolution

Does anyone know the appropriate modelines to get this monitor to work at 800x480 in Linux? Would it be the same as for the Xenarc 700 series (described here)?

To answer my own question, I experimented with modelines from a few different websites and there were several that seemed to work well. This is one of them:
    Modelin "800x480" 31.746 800 864 944 1000 480 508 511 525 -hsync -vsync

    the only kid,
I am interested in building a car pc for a 2008 Impreza. Thinking of using the 700 kit. I have ordered the Scorsche SU2027 DD installation kit, however which Mini Touch 700kit would you recommend, and advise what frame I would need to hold the screen in place and eliminate gaps.

PS. I would not be using the ByByte box as this would not fit in the opening and possible overhang.

    Thanks in advance.
