I'm hesitant to buy without seeing pictures of it on my car. Does such an application exist for the 06-08 Infiniti FX35? Is audio in any way integrated with the factory stereo using mimics? (ie text display for my factory LCD and steering wheel controls)

Let me clarify, my factory LCD has to go somewhere because it displays the car's entire diagnostic system, HVAC, phone, backup camera, and radio info. So I can either overlay it with a touch interface and inject video with my existing NavTV or relocate it to my sunglass holder to install the Mimics kit (if it even exists for my dash).
Either way, I want my radio to display and control the iPod, especially if I'm going to pay $630 for it.

I think you are a little confused as to what this does, it "mimics" your idevice on the screen. Basicaly it is a external display for your iPhone (any ios device) with touch support. It is not a radio or anything more then that.
No, I'm aware of what it does. My search for a way to get video out while my car interface maintains serial control lead me to the threads about touch control, and then this.
I was quietly hoping that this device would pass through audio control somehow (for the price). I mean, what's the point of having an iPhone display in your dash if you can't watch netflix and enjoy music with the fancy coverflow images.

Thats exactly what it does though, it displays what you see on your iPhone. If your iPhone shows a movie, thats what you see on the display, if you are in iPod mode, thats what you see. It duplicates your screen on the display and gives you audio out through a headphone jack (for lack of a better way of saying that) that you plug into your amp, or aux in on your car stereo. But when you are looking at the iPhone there is no way to see the stock radio on the same screen. if you want to see what it will look like just connect it to your TV at home with the video out cable, the only difference is there is no touch on the TV so you control it at the Iphone.
I figured that was the only solution. I was hoping for something more elegant than a headphone jack, like audio out of the dock with some track controls.
Thanks for the clarification guys!

Gonna chime in here for a sec.
If you can get the right cables you can get audio from the dock. The issue at the moment is that apple nor china makes a cable that pulls both digital video AND audio from the dock. The only cable at this time that does this gives you composite video and analog audio. Not a VGA video, or DVI or HDMI video and audio. Mimics is not the problem at this point, its all in the cable. So why don't we make one? Good question.. stay tuned![]()
