    customGadz:

I got the notification email I signed up for and saw this:

"Android system is shipping end of November 2011 (currently in mass production), pre-orders will receive a bonus touchpanel (6.5", 7", 8")"

Can you elaborate? What brand "touchpannel" ? etc. THANX!!!

The touch panel you get is a standard 4-wire (widescreen) touchpanel with antiglare coating. If you planning to use this with you OEM system that has a touchscreen monitor then you can opt for the free "switcher" add-on which you will need instead.

I will put up the dimensions of all the touchscreen sizes shortly up on the website.

Will the Android module be compatible with iPhone as well? That would totally seal the deal.

The Android version has different hardware and completely different software. So it can't do both.

To prevent confusion between the mimics for iPhone and the Android version, I have created an appropriate thread here

Just a little update on the mimics.

Now the the "switcher" addon is in full swing, I had some requests and decided to implement some more functionality.

The new external "HOME" button harness now has an "device connected" LED to show connection status. Also added an override input that allows you to force the touchscreen selection between systems without needing to remove your iPhone. Previously the only way to "switch" between devices was to dock and undock your iPhone.

Does the "force switch" option work on the android one as well? How about the LED? That would be a nice options.

Yes, the Android module has this feature already. The output is actually a direct relay output (on the Android version), so you can connect it to a LED also if you like.

I just finished going through this thread (somewhat quickly) so if I missed the answer to this question please bear with me. Very interesting product as others have mentioned. Has there been any more headway on using the mimics device to pull the digital audio out from the 30 pin connector instead of the headphone jack?

The digital audio is carried via the HDMI cable. We have seen a small in-line box link that can extract the audio and give you optical/RCA output. Just bear in mind that the iphone can't adjust the volume of the audio output from the dock connector. So external volume control or your factory AUX input will be required.
