I have an iPhone 4S, Firmware 5.0 9A334. I finally installed my Mimics and, after fixing a loose touchscreen cable, got it to work yesterday. Last night, I saw an update for the Mimics driver (from the previous version to the new version 1.3-1). After installing this update, the touchscreen is no longer responding. Here is what I know:

1. DisplayOut shows a connection when I connect the iPhone to the Mimics
2. Mimics shows the warning screen when I connect the iPhone to the Mimics
3. The remote home button still works
4. We have tried it with the new power connection rule in Mimics app settings on or off, same problem
4. Using the old version of the Mimics driver, we were able to use the calibration utility as described in the user's manual. Using the new version of the Mimics driver, the blue LED on the Mimics does NOT turn off as described.
5. We have fixed and re-checked the touchscreen ribbon cable. Everything was working before the Mimics driver update, nothing else changed but the Mimics driver update, and then it stopped working.

I *really* do not want to upgrade the firmware on my phone, so I have a request: would you mind re-releasing the OLD version of the Mimics driver (maybe call it Mimics driver for firmware 5.0 and keep the new version for 5.1.X if this problem is a firmware-related issue)?

Please let me know ASAP as I am in the middle of an install. Thanks for any help you can provide on this.

Hi,
The new driver doesn't impact and settings on the module such as calibration. The Driver merely adds the new A/C charging rule and updates the calibration screen for the latest module firmware.

The mimics seems to pair so the touch should work providing you haven't re calibrated incorrectly. If the blue light doesn't turn off after holding the touchscreen on startup of the module, then this means that the mimics is not detecting a touch input from the touchscreen.

My best bet is that the mimics is not detecting any touch inputs from the touchscreen. I know that you have said you checked the touchscreen connections though.. If you can get the BLUE light to turn off while holding the touchscreen then the touch detection is ok. The driver has nothing to do with the blue LED turning off.. Can you please double check the touchscreen and make sure you havent torn the ribbon cable.. Also are you using the switcher or if the touchscreen directly connected to the mimics.

The driver has been tested on all version from 4.33 to 5.1.1 on ipod/iPhone3Gs/4/4S/Ipad1/2/3

**Also... not sure how many times you have handled the touchscreen connector, but lots of use can cause the black connector to bend and might crack the solder joints. If you think this is the case then you can touch up the joints with a soldering iron... You probably don't have access to this though..

Thanks for the quick reply! Will check the ribbon cable. We are not using a switcher; the touchscreen is directly connected to the Mimics.

Great, just dont try to bend the touchscreen connector.. To many bends will give you touch issues

On a related note, I've noticed a few things after upgrading to the new Mimics Driver. I'm not sure how much of this is related to the update, and when I updated Mimics, I did an "update all" which also updated SBRotator 5 to SBRotator 6 if that makes any difference. But I use my phone a lot, and didn't have any of these issues until the update.

1. I'm using an Apple Digital AV adapter to get HDMI out and 1080P on DisplayOut. Before, the video output filled the screen (of the stock Liliput display that comes with the Mimics) at 1080P. After the update, there are borders on the sides. I've verified that Displayout is set to 1080P, and the Liliput is at 1080P.

2. I am seeing some problems upon boot where either
a) the phone boot loops a few times and then goes into "Safe Mode"
b) the phone boots up but does not load any of the Cydia items in system settings
c) boots normally with Cydia items in settings loaded normally

I've tried removing and reinstalling Mimics Driver and SBRotator6, no change. Any ideas?

Hi,
If you screen is not filled correctly you can adjust the screen width and height in DisplayOut settings. This will fix your problem.
Safe mode is generally caused by a recent cydia package that you installed. Uninstall the last few packages you installed, and then re-install them one by one you will then see which one caused it. Safe mode is mainly caused by poor/incompatible themes and tweaks. I hope mimics driver doesn't fall into this category. haha

Let me know if "mimics driver" is the culprit.. If so, then tell me what device and iOS software you have and I will get one of our guys to test with your exact device and iOS version.

FYI, mimics works with 5.1.1.. it literally took me 10minutes to upgrade. The only thing that's inconvenient is reinstalling all your cydia packages, but that's not too bad anyway.

i have mimics on order, and was wondering how do we order the external home button that works with it?

The mimics should come with a external cable which allows you to connect an optional HOME button.

So the external home button isn't a button in a housing you can buy from somewhere?, how is one supposed to connect a home button to mimics?
