This product really appeals to me...Few questions tho

    1. Does the video from the iPhone use RCA to the Lilli?
    2. If I'm understanding correctly, mimics is a board that interfaces between the actual touchscreen and the phone, right?

I recently changed cars and currently have an Acura TL with Navi. There's a mod for my navi unit that will give me an RCA into the nav screen. I also have an extra lilli replacement touchpanel. Conceptually, I'm thinking if I just replace my navi overlay with the lilli's touchpanel and get RCA video in then I'd be in business.

Now that's a market for this. OE integration / modification. ^^^^ What touchscreen specs can the mimic work with, and is it FW upgradeable? Combine the mimic, with a touch panel and a video input device for each specific model car. That really goes after the market that doesn't want PCs in the car, and you could simply switch video inputs to use the stock screen and system. Touchscreen should work through a touchscreen, on many of them. Most OEs aren't even touchscreens.

    3Gs - Composite cable
iPhone4 - VGA or HDMI adapter cable.

    2.
The Mimics transmits touch signals from the monitor to the iPhone over bluetooth, The 'Mimics driver' Cydia tweak does all the signal interpretation, auto pairing, assists in screen calibration. etc.

I guess if you have a 3GS it should work with your Nav unit. Yes, you would need a compatible touchscreen overlay.

Ok thanks for the clarification. So I guess that would kill the Bluetooth pairing with my car's handfree. I have a 3GS so that mod technically could work but I'm supposing the resolution quality will be poor not to mention on my next phone upgrade I'd be screwed.

What about support for a iPod Touch? It has the same HDMI out cable and bluetooth, so it should work right? It does lacks 3G and GPS, but you can technically get both from your iPhone through wifi sharing and gps bluetooth sharing. This would solve the "forget my phone" problem too as you can just buy a used iPod touch on ebay and leave it in the car or use it as a back up device.

So you propose spending ANOTHER $200-$300, and only getting GPS and a good connection for streaming music or video when you have your phone?? Making it more complicated now.

It is ridiculous that they are charging $630 for the full kit, even the module itself for $205 is quite steep. And if you are to tackle the price of an iPod touch to it, that would be quite an expensive system and unlikely investment.

Using a iPod touch also adds another step when you get in the car to enable tethering on your phone, however it does separate the sense of being locked into an iPhone. This product would be perfect for the OEM market and to all those complaining about the price I'm sure you'd pay more for this feature if it was sold by a dealership. On another note, given that this thing obvisouly took some reseach investment and is being sold in a niche market the economies of scale is sparse thus I think the reason for the pricing. If it was mass marketed then may be a different story.

How would we go about adding rear screens with the mimics setup for a total of 3 screens showing the same video output.

I guess it wouldnt really be necessary to have the mimics module installed in the rear screens just the video...
