I dunno if the sendstation has one pocketdock with HDMI and line-out together. Its line out + mini-usb or line out + firewire.
I was refering to using the apple hdmi adapter and pocketdock together with the hdmi adapter being connected to the iphone and the pocketdock connected to the dock connector the hdmi adapter has...

With the apple HDMI adapter the audio actually is routed through the HDMI part, not the dock part. So you can't get audio from the dock part of the HDMI adapter.

Well...if money is no object, you can buy an HDMI Y splitter (1 in two out, $21.00; 5v), one side goes to the lilliput HDMI input, the other goes to the HDMI to VGA converter, which also has RCA out ($45, also 5v).

This is a great idea, however do you foresee a future option of purchasing a touchscreen overlay instead or the entire screen?

The reason I ask is that my car (audi a4) includes a factory screen (non-touch) that serves many of the car's functions (stereo, bluetooth, a/c, car menu).

I recently purchased a windows ce based unit that was built just like I described above (included a touchscreen overlay). Hold down the screen for 3 seconds and it would switch over to the win ce unit. Of course, it would be much better to access an iphone or android mimic'd unit.

It does just what you need (although for the same price yours does more) But this one is smaller.

Yes, you can just purchase a touchscreen overlay instead of the entire screen, just make sure you get the right type to suit your LCD - 16:9 or 4:3.

As long as the touchscreen ribbon cable is long enough to connect to the module it will work. In regards to pressing the touchscreen for 3 seconds, this can be achieved by utilizing one of the several ports available on the module to send a signal to switch between devices.

Since the firmware of the module can be upgradeable, this can be easily done.

    woah!

1rst. Price here is out of bounds... Way too much! Should be more like $200.
2nd. No mention of Android support?... Would love this on an Android!!!

Question, can you get this set up with a bigger monitor?
My Dodge Nitro has a bigger OEM opening in the dash bezel for like an 8" or 9" monitor!
That would really make it worth the price point.

Great idea otherwise, I started a car PC build, it was stolen, so currently I'm working on Galaxy Tab integration/fabrication. However some thing like this would save me so much heartache!!!!

Other than my 2cents, this is pretty dope!

This is nice but this particular one converts from analog to digital, we need the other way around
