Car Computer Install: Building The Computer

    Embed this video

Sean Clark, from mp3Car, talks us through the components involved in a typical car computer installation, in this case his own. The Mini-Box M2-ATX makes the perfect ‘intelligent’ automotive power supply for the computer. Morex International makes a sturdy, yet well ventilated case. Scantool.net’s OBDLink Wi-Fi is the perfect tool to read and interpret engine diagnostic data. The mp3Car Quick Release Kit makes plugging in and unplugging the power cable to your PC a snap, literally. Lilliput has supplied their ever-popular HDMI & DVI 669GL-70NP/C/T touch screen monitor. Front-end software is left up to the experts at Centrafuse. All this seamless integration is made possible by the mp3Car Direct Fit Kit, which incorporates a monitor in any number of dash kits made specifically for your vehicle.

Oh Sean, be glad you don't live in Miami, lol....

Anyways, very good video. I like how you put typical car PC install, lol. That pretty much disqualifies mine.

Why Garmin Mobile though? Isnt it discontinued?

Totally agree, Garmin is the best. I will be a long time replacing it whether its outdated or not. Besides, I believe there are ways to continue to update the maps so it can remain current and is the best IMO.

It does, Destinator. Problem is its using a very very very out dated engine. The maps were recently updated, but the engine itself is very old. It suffers from the most nastiest routing ever. Say you are trying to get to location B and you know to go straight to get there faster. Destinator will try to force you to go a different route that makes no sense and usually takes longer. I notice for long distance stuff its ok, but for in the city stuff it can act very stupid sometimes. I continue to use it because its very rare it acts dumb, but when it does I just ignore it.

This looks like it will be great. Very interested in putting a car pc in my car, but am one of those people who won't attempt it until I seen it done as many different ways as possible, so this will be perfect for me.

I'm just wondering however, how can I 'subscribe' to the series so that I'm notified of the new videos? I have clicked on 'subscribe to blog' on this page (http://www.mp3car.com/blogs/146428_c...roduction.html), so I'm just wondering if this is all I need to be notified of the new videos?

    Thanks
    Denno
