Meh, all I'll add is that I've ordered two special items from mp3car and have been satisfied with both.
Shipping? Never mattered much, it gets here when it gets here.
There's not much about a carputer that fits into my definition of a "need". This is a hobbiest web site and store, not a "business" as I understand it.
If you're using the parts sourced from mp3car for a business on time sensitive projects, perhaps you should take measures at the time of order to ensure timely delivery. I would.

I agree with everyone here that USPS has no tracking capability. But what is listed above is not a notice of tracking. Specifically, it says the label for his package was generated on January 11, 2008. As far as USPS's site being wrong, I've never seen it be wrong. Lacking detail, sure, but it's delivery confirmation, nothing more. Until you get a delivery confirmation, you get the date the label was generated.
So yeah, he was lied to. As for the rest of the customer service nightmare, but it seems to me that most places are getting worst, not better.
you have never seen USPS's site being wrong? i have never seen it correct. i have received items BEFORE it even stated the package had been picked up. in other words several times the site said "The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on xxxx, xxx, xxx to expect your package for mailing." and the package was sitting in my PO box. if i want on time correct shipping with correct tracking i will use UPS or fedex.

I never saw anything in the MP3car.com store about how long they take to ship. I didn't see it in their FAQ.
I saw something in this thread about "48 hours", but that's not really that helpful. 48 hours could mean 2 days... or it could mean 6 business days. I would not assume one or the other.
It looks like most of the stuff you ordered was shipped within a few days. The only one part that you had to wait an unacceptably long time for was the "classified one". If its what I think it is, you should know that that type of thing may take a little longer. If something is under development (for example), and some problem is discovered, they may have to make adjustments - they might wait to ship you the newer version. At the very least, there was paperwork involved, and at least you should have expected a few day delay.
It would be nice if businesses in general shipped same day they received orders. Most do not - the ones that do (or can) generally advertise it as a feature. 20 years ago, most advertising said "allow 4-8 weeks for delivery". In my experience, about half of the online retailers now take about a week to ship. In the future, I think that expectations will be that everything will ship same day - but I think you're a few years ahead of the curve.
Ebay, for example has a policy that items are missing if there is no proof of shipping with 30 days. Technically, an Ebay seller can sit on your stuff for 30 days and be perfectly within their rights - but most buyers won't put up with that.
I guess the questions have to be raised, did you get a timely response when you asked? Did you need/get any technical assistance from Mp3car.com?
My "classified" order was slow to deliver also, and it was over the holidays, so I wasn't too surprised. When I've had questions, they've always answered within a day, so I'm reasonably happy.
I wouldn't give them 5 stars just yet for my experiences... but this is an emergent market, so I would give them at least a little slack. I'm not buying though that they deserve 4 out of 5 being "bad experiences" from you. With your rating system, I imagine the vast majority of people you deal with online give you bad experiences - or maybe you were just having a bad day, and you need to give things a little perspective.
So, let me see if I can get this straight:
Order 1 - not an issue any longer.
Order 2 - also not an issue
Order 3 - Received within 7 days of order
Order 5 - If the pattern remains the same, you should have it by the 15th.
It looks like order 4 is the one that had the issue. That did take along time and it does sound like there was some kind of failure there.
So, one shipping issue with mp3car out of 5, right? And a suspicion on your part that your call to customer service was the prompt to ship the part.
You also seem to think that the USPS has a maximum 2 day delivery time. While I have often found this to be true, I've also experienced delivery times that have been longer than that. A quick check of USPS package delivery times shows that packages take an average of 2-3 days, not a maximum.
I'll take your word that mp3car lied to you, but aside from order 4, it looks like you are receiving consistent and predictable shipping times from mp3car. Incidentally, I've ordered two items from them in the last two weeks and received them in about the same amount of time as you -7 days. One a little quicker than the other.

I'll have to take your word that mp3car lied to you because I haven't heard their side, but except for order 4, it looks like you are receiving consistent and predictable shipping times from mp3car.
