I think it will help people who are on smaller budgets get into the carPC scene.
We are thinking about offering refurbished hard drives on the MP3car Store at a substantial discount in ADDITION to our NEW inventory. These drives will have 180 day warranties from the manufacturer; however, a lot of people really have strong opinions about refurbished products.
We haven’t confirmed exact pricing yet, but this should allow users to save about 40 dollars on larger size hard drives. (100-120 gb drives)
We don’t want to cheapen the Mp3car store, or make people think we are turning into a second hand store.
Do you think by stocking refurbished hard drives this will hurt the store image?

DOH! Clicked wrong button..
Anyway, I am all about refurbished products. Especially if you add in the 2.5hdd's.

I think it would be ok but should be on a seperate page, like a link, : "refurbs, closeouts & specials", not to contaminate the main store, I don't think I'd do them side by side in the same list though...

I don't think that's unclear or dishonest, but the store has a reputation for being a bit expensive, but good. having refurbs mixed in with the premium stock can be bad for image... I'd rather see a closeout refurb section...

Although I personally wouldn't buy a refurb drive, I can see where the cost savings to someone on a budget could be helpful.
However, I'm with turbocad6 on this one. Stick the refurb equipment in their own little section. This way there is a definite delineation between new hardware and open box/refurbished items, and no one gets confused. There will always be that one person who didn't read the description entirely and buys a refurb drive thinking it's new.

turbo - I swear you must have been on the call where Fiberoptic, Zip-Lock, and I talked about exactly what you suggested.
