Maybe I could have given him a warning instead of an infraction, but what's done is done. That was my choice and I do not wish to debate it.
My issue is that he spat his dummy and left. He did not wish to discuss it and posted this thread. (I got a pm that was very similar to the OP's first post, but I couldn't reply to it, hence he gave me no chance to talk to him about it.) I would have been quite willing to get the infraction removed if he wanted to talk to me sensibly about it. We all make mistakes and if I had made one, I would be happy to change it.
Long standing member or not, he broke the rules. END OF STORY. As mods and admins we are here to protect MP3Car and it's members. If this site was closed, where would you go? (yeah i know, DC right?) Anyway if I was looking to do what he wanted, I would be searching google first, not here. I'm sure I would find the answers in less than 30 seconds.

I have also been a member for a long time and while most members of the forum are still helpful, there are a few people who give the whole place a bad feel. For a long time I have felt like this forum has been getting less friendly than it once was. Maybe he just got fed up with it. I still read the forum, but don't post nearly as often as I once did because of the way the atmosphere seems to have changed. I don't want to name anyone specifically, but some people just need to lighten up a bit.

Have the relevant people been advised of this (individually) so that they know who they are, or are they essentially one point away from a ban with no warning whatsoever?

There are over 60000 members on this forum. There are many different personalities and characters on here. On the whole, I think this is a great place and a great majority of people are helpful. But as with all things there are usually a couple of people that ruin the experience. That is just a fact of life. Also we must remember that carpc's are becoming a big business. That could also add to your perceived change in atmosphere, but on the whole, the people here try to help each other out. That's why it is still a good place to come.

In all seriousness.. who cares? I mean if i gt an infraction *whoops*.. if i get kicked out or something *double whoops* bottom line is... not something to get really mad about.. right?

i dont blame mp3 formum mods for doing what they did. Rules are rules.. Like cops... we know when we speed we might get a ticket.. no sense getting mad at the cop for catching us (although i cant help it). If you feel like your in the right.. go to court pleed your case.. well in this example we had the "judge" asking him to discuss (bet he might have gotten it "thrown out"). i think thats more then fair?

you lose one, you gain one...
now lets get back to CARPC'in

Whenever I have given a warning or infraction, the response has been quite good. People are not usually aware that they have broken the rules, but they accept it and move on. If they wish to discuss it, I am open to a constructive conversation. As I have posted above, we are all human. We make mistakes.

Now if you want an infraction

I think this will always be a bit of a running joke. I don't think anyone is or would be targeted due to their supposed underworld links.
