haven't posted much or at all really but.
I lurk because of the flaming.
    why??!!
specs and features dont tell me if a power supply is / has garbage reliability.

with large #'s of people in the power supply forum. allways with "problem" posts. it sems like there are no good power supply's...sooo i gotta se what comes up over time

so I lurk awaiting someone to... say make a poll?...a proper poll?...with a bar graph? or something more than the need to read 20+ pages of opinions.

I search, i know computers fairly well, I cannot program tho, I cannot understand half the lingo in some of these posts, and some of this stuff is so old it refers to items you cant even buy anymore.

why is it that everyone has problems with everything?
because were not smart enough to manufacture a whole system from component (board level components) level through to software etc

so I lurk...maybe i'll pick some brains up...but DEAAAMN this is a lot slower than just getting a question answered. but better than being crapped on

our moms all wiped our butts till we could do it ourselves. I dont expect this from the forums either.

but posting anything less than "go to this link" (linked to actual post WITH the answer).
    or "it's in this FAQ"
or "search______&_____" is about the minimum I would expect. otherwise your probably post whoring or thread crapping.

teh whole "pwned" and "search dammit" etc thing needs to be phased out.
i mean cmon some posts here would have taken less time to give the answer.
    why?
cause 10 people typed more words to flame than what it would have taken to answer.
those are forum *****ters in my opinion.
because they make the forum *****ty for anyone new

were not 16yr olds on a honda tuners site
this is pretty complicated stuff...maybe if it COULD be a complicated question.
    ask for clarification??!!

I can tell you that has been answered many times before, but if you dont get it still, make a new thread in the PSU section! Thats what this is about!

You do realize that I'm the only person who has been adding those FAQs, right? Why? Because that's the way the Advanced FAQ is setup and it's done so for good reason. I'm sorry I'm not able to manually answer all 10,000 questions in the FAQ area, I'll work on that in more detail in the coming weeks.
I think that the FAQ menu item should lead to where the faqs are. It would be pretty simple to add another item in the FAQ dropdown that is just a permanent link to the FAQ forum. Then both would be easy to find.

No, but reading threads related to that PSU will give you a good deal of information.

I don't think I'd go that far. Powering the PC is the absolute most critical part of this whole project. Naturally, people will gravatate there. There's also the fact that many of the questions I've seen in there have been troubleshooting questions. Just because people don't know or understand how to hook up power supplies properly doesn't mean that all power supplies, or even the power supplies those individuals are using are poor quality.

so I lurk awaiting someone to say...make a poll...a proper poll...with a bar graph or something.
You're saying you want someone to start a poll on which PSU is the best? That's not going to happen and if it does, I don't think you could or should put much weight into it since the different PSUs are built for different purposes.

Red makes a valid point about the PSU's. For example, I bought two different PSU's, an Opus 150w and a Carnetix 140W PSU. Both do VERY different jobs. Equally both are built quite well. Both are simply designed, so changing components etc is not a hassle if anything does go wrong.

It's a question of reading the manual and understanding what the manual says!

My honest opinion is, if you want a car computer, please aquire basic soldering skills, it really does help!!

I think this whole thread that JWPB started is because of this thread.

Okay, I can just ignore the post, but it get to the point that the user don't bother to help himself (at least doesn't look like it is in the post).
If he would look at RR index, there are basically 2 related topic he can read. One obvious thread was in the FAQ that you can actually see without going to the faq because it is the newest one.
RR's FAQ isnt' huge list like the main forum faq. If he just click on it, the topic is just right there. The faq cover every answer to his particular problem. I can post a link to that particular post, but I refused to do so.

For new comers, it is best to show other that you try to find the solution, but unable to locate. At least said that you search for that term or this term but didn't find what you looking for or something similar. That at least show that you are willing to looking for information not waiting for information.
The amount of information in this site is huge, the forum's search function is suck big time. Sometime I can't even locate the thread that I know existed. For newbie, it a big challenge to find information.
Normally, I would give the answer to the post or give a link to those who show the will. And most, I just ignore. And I did provide solution (if I know) to all people who had PM me even I know it's spoonfeed.

Should I talk about a man and a fish?

Oh and some of these type of post I really fuking hated.
    - Use post question/problem.
    - Then come back with post similar like this "Oh I found a solution" Or " Solution found, mod please delete/close this thread".
WTF????? If you found a solution, share it so that future users who had the same/similar problem can work it out.
