Humm, we did it for Cobra. Do you think the other software packages are popular enough to justify a separate forum?
I thought it might be a good idea to have some sort of software under developement forum.
The only thread there should be software that the members on this board are creating/have created.
possibly even subforums to a main forum to keep things tidy - an example of this is @ forums.maxima.org the regional forum has several subforums (the regions)
this way it would be much easier to keep track of the projects that people are working on. And it would be much easier to ask the creators questions, and get updates.
The cobra forum isn't exactly jumping.. but some of these other softwares have near 100 replies on them iirc. Maybe it would be a good idea just to have a general forum. The if a particular software gets off the ground give it's own subforum?
It seems to me some of these otherones get discused an awful lot more than cobra since they are being openly developed, there buy creating a greater volume of discussion
maybe a forum section for software developement in general?
something similar to the folowing tree
Code:Software Development |-Interfacing with external applications [dll, ocx, codecs, etc.] |-coding your project in VB |-Software projects |-Cobra |-Bobs Spiffy car computer ultimate program |-Other Projects Under Developement
I was thinking the same thing the other day, except just a generic software dev forum. Seeing as how there are a few threads that the software authors update everytime they write a new line of code, it'd be nice if there was a place for it so that it doesn't keep knocking down new threads. For those that want to keep up to date with whatever new package is available, the proposed forum will be the place to go.
Yes - please let's make a Software in developement forum or such - There are now so many people developing their soft's - And cobra has a forum - with one thread every month or less - so why not a extra forum for the all others ?!
And is cobra really so popular ?
why not just use the existing forum change the name from Cobra to Software development. Just a thought.
Never let the truth get in the way of a good story
i like the idea.... but in the meantime I will be keeping all my updates/etc to the single thread!
but counting roughly I can think of about 6 software packages that are in dev/etc... mine included.... and Gutters too - with the cool idea of using flash and VB
all in all anyone of the above idea would be great..... we are all about doing things creative and often on the cheap, so giving everyone access to a variety of FREE software packages to use/try I feel is a great idea..
Project - GAME OVER :(
Please let's get a Software packages forum ! So we would have
a clear tray betweeen normal software and truly selfdeveloped mp3car software. So if no new section is wanted why not change the cobra section name into <MP3Car Software packages developement & Support > or <MP3 CAr Software > or such (like meddler already said??
I think the discussion here in the thread hasn't become very big
because only few people take a look at this section -
So if it's undecided why not make a poll in General software section ??
P.S: hope explained myself properly without misunderstanding - if such exist please pm me.
Just adding a "me too" to the idea of a dedicated software devlopment forum. Like the idea of renaming the Cobra forum, since it gets few hits.
