Patience

Im not a patient person. This spills to other areas of my life, but it is more prevalent on this hobby of mine. I am currently 3 months into this project and I am so impatient that I try to devote as much time to it as possible.

The biggest problem I have ran into is procuring the smallest and most insignificant parts, like a piece of plexiglass or a video cable. I have so many small parts on order, I had to make a list, to remember.

It eats away at my patience, everytime I go to Radio Shack and the component area gets smaller and smaller, while the cellphone or barbie piano area gets bigger. I go to Home Depot, Lowes, etc...same thing.

I rant, because while I can see in my mind the finished product, I do not see a finish date or approximation; meanwhile I drive a vehicle that is new, but looks like Ive been sleeping in it for months. I have a back porch where I work in relative peace, and a shop nearby if I need to work on big sized stuff.

The one thing I have enjoyed this time around ( My 3rd project in decades), has been the new technology. Learning new skills like cutting aluminum, working with Dremel tools, adapting other skills, has been the fun part.

Maybe an area in the forum could be dedicated to writing out our parts list and vendors, or I may be the most impatient person here.

How do you see this section working...we can set something up for this.

Would the goal be to post a list, and get feedback from forum members on where you can get these parts? How would it be different than a worklog?

Maybe like people's "shopping list" on one column, and prices / vendors / comments on the other.

I mustve read about 80% of the site, and getting materials and websites out of other people's fabrications has been a long process. I think this would give everyone a good source list or maybe certain materials would be found to be so common that we could get a price break or something alike.

ok - good idea - i will bring it up at our next meeting on WED and post back with the suggested solution, to get your feedback.
