Search SUCKS!!
The search function in this forum is abysmal at best. This is the only forum I've been to where if you put in multiple specific words to search for, the result will be MULTIPLE threads with only one of the words within the thread. This makes absolutely no sense; if I was at all interested in a thread, allow me the courtesy to input that one word for the result of that particular thread. Don't give me that thread because it contained ONE of the three words I'm searching for. My time is consistently wasted with searching through thread results in this forum that don't contain EXACTLY what I am searching for. And then when people get fed up of searching through irrelevant threads returned by the search, the response is, "Use search". NO DAMN IT, it's useless! Personally, I would prefer to use search instead of posting the same thing for the millionth time....but not with the search capabilities of this forum.

This has been the result of the upgrade to the new version of vBulletin.
The search was a lot better before th upgrade

Last time I used google very successfully (first returns).
Wanting to find my UIBI posts, I simply used mp3car uibi oldspark
-
As pointed out by OldSpark, its best to use google itself.... Even tho takes a little more time, Does end up being much quicker.
Enter The Following Line Into Google....
site:mp3car.com Stereo Replacement Ideas
the above line will search only mp3car.com with the keywords in bold,

Have you tried using "AND" between the terms? I know that vB doesn't look to see if all terms are in a single post/title, but it's supposed to work if you use "AND".
-
I've tried AND, quotes, plus sign, none work. It's just sad. I wish/hope more people will complain so this can be fixed/changed...unless it simply doesn't annoy anyone else. I think the fact that people resort to using google speaks for itself. I don't use google because a lot of times I like to search titles only...unless that's possible with google, let me know. Besides, using google is flawed in searching multiple words, but is waaaaay better than this sites search function. Come on, let's get this fixed.

which other forums are you on, and what software do they use?
i'm also on hidplanet(new vbulletin 4.1) and club3g(old vbulletin 3.8) and both have done the same thing as long as i can remember. i have simply started searching via the
google 'site:' method any time i need it...

There is a hack that can be incorporated, but it's something the forum admin has to do.
-
a hack to use the old vb3 search? Or a hack to search the site via google? I can look for both

The way I believe search works, is that it tries to use all of your words first, then it uses them individually. If I search for power supply, the first 8 results all have "power supply", the rest have either power or supply
