    Forum Reorganization

It's been over a year since I last reorganized the forums.

Here's some new/old ideas on how to organize things:

    1. Wireless InternetBluetooth, wireless dialup, 2.5G, G3, specifically NOT WiFi
    2. WiFi – 802.11b, 802.11g, sync music collection when pulling into driveway, etc.
    3. OBD-IIhardware and software – virtual dash, etc.
    4. Satellite radio – XM Radio, Sirius, etc. – and they connect to a vehicle computer
    5. Fabrication – Fiberglass, Bondo, as they relate to custom dash fabrication

    Have our needs changed?

I take it you mean adding extra forums.

1 & 2 would come under one heading I would think, it would be a good idea having those. I already have a wifi card in my PC which i use to transfer files from the server in doors when the car is in the driveway. (also for some driveby internet access

    3. As stated in another thread I think is a good idea.

4 Not sure about that, as I haven't come across that.

    5. I saw in a thread someone linked to a good tutorial on that so yes that would be good.

Also How about a FAQ section. As we seem to be getting a lot of the same questions coming up.

Aside from the forum, maybe some users could do some step by step howto guides that could be linked to off the home page.

There is a big difference between 1 & 2 and I want to mantain an distintion, it's easy for people to consue the two.

I will add an OBD-II forum this afternoon, it's something I've wanted for a while and it will raise awareness.

We decided that information changes to fast and no one is really willing to commit the effort of maintaining an FAQ.

In all seriousness, I think we need a FAQ about why we don't have a FAQ. The idea comes up every few months, everyone agrees that its a good idea, and then no one does anything, or one person works on it, and no one else contributes, and the idea dies off again for a few months.

Edit: And they all sound like good ideas, my only concern with seperating them into their own fourms is how much volume do we have in those categories? IE, much like the meets forum now doesn't get much traffic, will they be "stustainable"?

I have no plans to create all of them. I just wanted to get a sense for the interest level. I would consider creating some kind of "emerging technologies" forum and make them sub forums as a test.

I would really like an OBD-II section. My next car is going to purposefully be a 96+ car just so I can implement OBD-II into my carputer .

Satellite radio would also be handy.

and my third choice would be #5.
