    Question Karma?

Why don't we have karma, like on slashdot.
If you make good comments, you go up, you make bad comments, and you go down.
You could be a Karma moderator for say, one day out of the month.
AND, I wouldn't let the regular moderators have full access to it. I'm getting sick of seeing Charles make fun of people over their slow computers, and not having a TFT.
Then, at the end of the month, the guy with the highest karma, if its changed from the previous month, could get a prize, say an mp3car sticker or something?
    Just my idea.

as much as I am sick of Charles go on about the correct setup I get sick of you going out about him. Do we need a karma system here? No geez we are a small community compared to Slashdot. Let Charles have his say and let the person he replied to decide if Charles is correct or not. Hell I don't listen to Charles all the time but his advise usually is good and worth concidering.

    Charles was just an example.
I feel as if it would help cut out the "Me too" and the posts that could have been solved with the search button aswell.
And, Skinny Boy could have been solved long ago with this system.

what would it solve? We would still see Skinnyboy's post and the Me too posts. the people posting it would just have a lower karma big deal they will still post. I don't know if you noticed or not but UBB does have a rate me system check it out under the names.

Just the fact that most people don't use the rating system on this BB (for the most part), shows that the Karma idea won't catch on. If a function is not used it does no good. And I don't think it would solve any of the major problems.

    Cool

I'm not really familiar with this Karma system, but are Member Ratings not the same basic thing?

    Aaron...
Karma, at least as it used on Slashdot is used to moderate comments individually. You have a number of moderators that can raise or lower the points on a comment. Then, each user can set a threshold that they want to view comments at. So if comment has been "modded" down, you won't see it.
