Can we PLEASE have poles?

i really dont see WHY we dont have polls, or why its only for special people. Ive seen them, so I assume only mods can create them, whats the big deal with not wanting to let us have polls?
Its not like they are WMD's, so what if someone makes a stupid poll, people post dumb *** threads all day long. Everybody knows that a poll isnt a scientific fact of any question you post with one, and neither is the voteing of gov officials, but its still needed. Maybe make it only for people who have a certain post count, or some other means to make sure this dangerous tool isnt in the hands of kids. There are many times when i personally want to ask a group of people a specific question and not have to sort through pages of replies and try to guess what the majority is and also consider many are too lazy to answer, but with a poll its a LOT easier. This is a community after all, and any community needs a way to "easily" voice an opinion.
Can the person, or persons "directly" responsible for turning this feature on or off please reply to this thread?

I say a mod, or someone with the powers, create a poll so we can vote on it.

I think the answer is, If you have an opinion, post it. Besides, it brings up the post count. Polls do not do that.

I like polls to see what equip people like to use in different areas. I vote yes.

i vote yes... is it possible to enable features like this for ppl with x minimum post count or x time on the board?

I'd say that 50 posts or 2 months on the board should allow you to post polls...

ppl like liquid_smoke develop skins/software FOR THE COMMUNITY... if he has a hard time gaugeing interest for features/layouts/etc then we all lose on his work....

exactly, this is main reason i want to make polls most of the time. Like right now i want to start a thread on the audio player and playlist editor and just general browseing methods of the quickest way to access your music, and i really would need a poll to go along with the thread to make things a lot easier.

I know that if polls existed in an organized manner before I built my carPC I would have researched them 1st before reading threads hunderds of threads.

yeah polls would be a good idea but only if

1. they are conducted in intervals like one poll a week
REASON: Law of Diminishing Returns...too many polls and eventually the educational/curiosity element of poll results will decrease ALSO, members can become accustomed to a certain day polls open.

2. Poll Released by mods.
REASON: eliminating redundant questions being asked 30 times where only only a handful of people answer in each one, therefore making accurate data difficult. AND eventually become more of a burden...trust me it wouldnt take long.

3. Sticky thread where memebers post ideas for questions.
REASON: that way mod. can simply just ask the most popular one. the first two polls better be Which frontend and SKIN!!!

(I see advantage for both ways on this 4th one, keeping them open indefinitely or by having a time limit)
4. Polls arent open indefinitely, have time limit maybe a month.
REASON: Motivate member to give faster response and If someone is answering polls after 2-6 months of its release then its probably b/c their setup was based on results from that poll itself...kinda skews the number. I think there are enough member currently and thats enough to get a good idea on whats popular.

5. Obvious but has to be said Voting by members ONLY, and one vote per member...duh!,

Polls have 2 reasons in my view (1) for new members to get idea on most popular method for a certain application and apply it for themselves (2) for members already with carPC, just to see whats most popular for curiousity.

I think this could undoubtly help the mp3car store get data on what is popular and help them decide what new parts to carry thats hot hot hott.

AND IF THIS IS IMPLEMENTED IT NEEDS A DEDICATED AREA IN THE MP3CAR HOME PAGE AS A REMINDER

my 2 cents...there are probably some other good suggestions go ahead and add.

oh yeah it would certainly increase the traffic to the site also, since I have had my carPC running I have noticed less and less frequent visits...i mostly come to checkout new skins and see if skinbedder and this like that have a final release...

This could be just whats needed to spark some other members to visit the site more often.

After all this i have said and spent the time typing...THERE BETTER BE A DAMN POLL UP BY NEXT WEEK
