Search noob , been said before.
Im a new user here I admit (although I have been reading for quite some time).
There is a real attitude and trend around here Im noticing. I see so many threads with a bunch of "Search" "learn to search newb" replies. I hate freeloaders as much as the next guy, but often people do search and turn up nothing. Or dont know the correct terms to ssearch for.
Perhaps instead of just wasting everyones time you could post a link to the search. Or let them know what to search for. Its a forum, forums exist to help people and discuss things.
Really just a bit of a rant on my part, but it is quite annoying. If your not going to contribute to a thread, dont post at all.
Search noob , been said before.
Thats funny because many many many people have made threads just to point out how usefull this forum is....noob....![]()
Na just kidding welcome to the boards, if you need help feel free to ask.![]()

c'mon... y u taking this seriously? If one noob oesn't know on how to phraze search terms, prolly this hobby isn't for him anyways...
In all honesty, when I first found this site, I didn't even think about posting. Not because I felt it was a hostile atmosphere, but because I knew there was a lot to learn first. I think my first post was about 6 months after I found the site and it wasn't a question, it was an answer. One thing that I did notice along all my searching was that it was incredibly annoying to see hundreds of posts on the same thing, not even variations on the same thing.
Let's go through a flow chart:
1. A thread is made on a topic called say "What is the best monitor?", and very clear concise answers are given.
2. 10 more threads with the same title are made with slightly less concise answers because they reference the first post.
3. 10 more threads with less clear answers are made.
etc......
That means that the next new person to the boards will have to go through hundreds of threads until they find a good answer if they go in reverse chronigical order (as the search function does). I found it a lot more useful for there not to be answers in the 100th thread so I could just move on to the next one. Eventually I started going through threads from oldest to newest. This strategy ended up yielding exactly what I stated, and was thus more useful.
It's the same thing that goes with any type of search. The more useless pages there are, the harder it is to search. I for one will try to guide the poster in the right direction, but I rarely answer very broad questions that are purely opinion based. "What's the best....." threads are my biggest pet peeves.
I find the people that show hostile attitudes towards people who don't search are somewhat doing this board a service and disservice. They make people think twice about creating new threads, which yields less false positives in a search. I do think they scare off some people though which could be a detriment. Those that are scared off though I feel are usually those who won't have any value to add to this forum as they are here strictly to be spoon fed. The people who have the motivation to search, will likely have the motivation to do something new and post about it. Those who won't search most likely will never be anything but information leeches which obviously serve this community no purpose.
No offense man, but here's how it is...Originally Posted by SKiTLz

Typically how forums work, is that when someone posts aor tells someone to search - usually that means its in the forums somewhere.
Many of us have been around here for years, and have seen/read most there is to offer here. I apologize if I can't remember exactly where a thread from 2 years ago is located that will help you with your problem/question.
More than that, if/when we post, we don't have time to search the forums for you and find a specific thread. We all have things we're working on, and can't cater to every single request that's been answered 100 times already.
That's a pretty rude comment that really ****es me off. If you want to say stuff like that then maybe you shouldnt be helped. How is posting a picture -Originally Posted by SKiTLz

I'm sorry that you want to waste MY time by making ME search. You want the information - then you'll have to 'waste' YOUR time. Sorry pal.
That's why there's the FAQ emporium, with much 'wasted time' spent creating it - thanks BugByte!! That's why there are threads devoted to showing people how to search.Originally Posted by SKiTLz

The trend that I've been noticing since the FAQ Emporium has been put up, are more well informed newbs to the system in place here. The majority of newb posts here start with "I've searched for hours, using these terms...."
or "I searched the forums and the Inet, and couldn't find out this...."
You'll notice in those threads that members actually point them in the right direction, or post the threads to what they're looking for, help answer questions, etc....
