    Thumbs down Read this

Last time i checked this was a website built to help new people at this carputer thing...and when someone asks a question most the answers given involve that smiley that is holding the search sign. It would take less time for people that have been here a while to just answer the question instead of being a jackass telling everyone to search. There is so many threads on this forum it isn't even funny, you try to search for something and it takes you 3 days to read through everything, if you are about this searching thing why dont you search for the n00b and just give them the link (like I see some people doing) THAT is called helping, telling people to search is just showing that you may not know jack**** about this hobbie, and just telling them to search would be ok, but harassing a person for asking a question is a crock-of-****. I have decided that this is my last post i will make on this website, I will start the SEARCH for a new forum that has more helpful people then this place

to put it very plainly its comes down to this
ive found myself questioning myself about whether or not i should post something, i thought about it composed my post and just for the hell of it would run a search out of the very keywords i ended up typing. 99% of the time it yeilded either a thread that deallt with something very similar or the exact same thing. so i would then post my question in that thread and someone would almost always respond. if they didnt then i carefully worded my question so that tohers might find it in the future with a clear consise title and posted a new thread (shock) yes thats right im guilty and could have been told to search and have been told to search myself as well . ITS NOT AN INSULT
its just that your way of asking the question (if is been answered many times before) does not quailify to get a shiny new thread title. Some of my threads dont even qualify for a shiny new thread title but if your complaining about ppl telling you to go search then your probably missing something somewhere along the line. or you need to educate yourself more in the way things work 1st before posting mutiple duplicate threads.
no ones perfect but ing is not going to hurt you.
    if someone says search
you have and say i have and cant find anything
i highly doubt someone wont point you in the right direction unless your posting someting totally covered 1000 times before

    good luck

I know theres lots of crap to search through in the forum , esp all the crap we post in OT , that must count for at leat a quarter of all the posts in this forum.

So I appologize on behalf of my fellow OT'ers and myself.

Was it built to help new people at this carputer thing - or was it built for people who are building car computers to have a resource to learn and a place to discuss car computer related topics.

It would take less time for people that have been here a while to just answer the question instead of being a jackass telling everyone to search.
I think being a jackass is much quicker than typing out a response to a question you have seen 100 times before.

When people post a thoughtful question, even if I have seen it many times, I try to give a quick answer or point them in the right direction.(maybe provide a link if
i remember seeing something on point somewhere)

If someone asks something like "what computer stuff should I get"...How the hell should I or anyone else know the answer? They need to search, learn, and decide what they want to accomplish - that is the only answer.

if you are about this searching thing why dont you search for the n00b and just give them the link
Why is it anyones reponsibility here to do this? When you are at work do you tell your boss "Hey, you know more about this than I do why don't you just do my job and let me know how it turns out"

There are a tremendous number of very helpful people on this forum. It is an amazing resource for learning how to build a car computer if used wisely. Sure, there may be a few rude comments from time to time - and yes some members may have some fun at a n00bs expense occasionally - but in general there a great bunch of guys.

Good luck finding your new website.

It sounds to me like you might want to check out the "Become a member and we will come out to your house and build a computer for you to your specifications and then install it in your car for free".com Website

is very accurate IMO. I feel that creative criticizm and sometimes a crude comment towards a n00b can both motivate and make him cautious about asking dumb questions. Because if its obviously been answered a hundred times and ways, then there is no reason to restate the same thing again. ing is simply encouragement to gather information for yourself before requesting advice. You have to help yourself before anyone can help you. Its easier to answer specific questions than vague inquiries.

I was a newbie once....nOOb too. But I was never once told to search....guess why?

If you are going to ask a question just to get a "personalized" answer, get used to wearing flame proof panties. Learn from others that have had the same question. Why do you suppose these foums save all posts? Just for fun? Hmm...Maybe for ARCHIVE...so people can find answers to already asked questions.
