Here's the real scoop on what happened to the mp3car.com server over this past weekend:
We ran into a very sticky situation with the location where we were hosting the mp3car.com server several weeks back and have been in the process of making plans to relocate it to a more reliable location. The server was physically relocated approximate to 4:00AM - 6:00AM EDT on Friday, November 25, 2005. We reduced the DNS TTLs several weeks ago in preparation for the move, so there should be few (if any) issues with DNS caches pointing to the old IP address.
This move should address the occasional network connectivity issues that some users were experiencing over the past few months. However, it is possible (though unlikely) that the move may cause networking issues with others.
Anyone who believes that they are experiencing network connectivity issues as a result of problems at *our* end should feel free to contact me directly with enough information for me to be able to diagnose the problem. I am very interested in tracking down network problems but I cannot do this without proper information. Messages that simply say "site is down" with no more information will receive a polite reply, and then be promptly ignored.
