    My 2 cents

A Torrent section to share these hard-to-find programs to run our little dream machines would be a great idea.
I don't think a torrent section is necessary in my personal opinion. I don't know any of the legitimate (free/legal) programs listed on mp3car to be hard to find. You want frodoplayer you can find a link or search yahoo, or any other program. I'm not going to go jump in the argument about whether piracy is right or wrong and under what conditions. However, I am going to ask if you have ever written a program? (This may have been previously answered, I tried to check all the posts but I might have missed it)

Well, I still think it would be nce to just have to go to one site for all the free software.

I know how annoying it is when I have to go to the RR site only to find that I have to go to another site to get the newest version, etc....

    Peace,

Agreed, It may not all be terribly hard to find, but it would be much easier if it ere all in one place, clearly labeled and with the latest version, instead of searching for last months version just to find out its temporarily down for the month because a. couldn't pay this months rent, b. renovations, c. any other reason. Plus maybe you will find something you didnt even know you need. The benefits are clear, the only reason ppl would disagree wit this that I can discern is the association between torrents and piracy. but this will all be freeware anyways so unless someone can think of a negative aspect, I don't see why this shouldnt be seriously considered.

I agree on the torrents for the frontends/support software and such - the authors have to pay for hosting somehow, and having torrents for the freeware stuff is not a bad idea. I've been to download stuff only to find dead links too. The mods just have to make sure it's not being abused. And it'll be easy to monitor, as loads of people would report any piracy.

Any mods care to comment on this? I think we've reached a reasonable conclusion.

I think we might just be able to afford the bandwidth to mirror all of the front ends available for download. I am going to run it by everyone today. Would someone like to volunteer to man gage that file section and the HTML code surrounding it?
