Now I would give you some valid (none whoreish) rep points but it still won't let me
the problem is no-one searches the for sale section. There may be a buyer out there for an item but they miss it as they dont log in for a few days and then it gets pushed down the list. The seller may be asking a fair price but there item is just missed by the right person. I think there should be an exception of about 2 weeks for some items to allow them a couple of 'bumps' over a month (ie 2 bumps) but the after that no more.
Failing that people will just get round it by making another thread so what would you prefer? more duplicate for sale threads or aloowing a couple of bumps over a month?
I agree that the rules are quite vague.
And yes, as I told the OP, it's the 'bump' in the post that triggered it.
Same with the:
I believe that those are nothing short of 'bump' as well.
And yes, posting a warning will bump the thread as well. I agree. However, I'm not in favor of editing someones post unless it's absolutely warranted. Editing a post to put a warning in there about bumping isn't warranted IMO.
Perhaps guidelines for this sort of thing would be warranted in the mods forum....
Well I kinda like xBrady's just delete it.
Here is a question, if you delete the "bump" does it fall back to the same place in the page or still remained bumped?
I also personally feel that just deleting the thread is a bit harsh.
Just because you're tired of having to warn people, doesn't mean that everyone knows that.
The 10th person to come along and bump their own thread didn't know any better than the first person.
The 100th person to ask the same question as was asked before, didn't know the answer, just like the first person to ask. The 100th person also probably didn't know that the question had already been asked.
Much like I believe that just because you've had a bad day it doesn't give you the rights to let it all out on the next person you see.
I hope that makes sense.
And my using the word 'you' isn't directed towards anyone in particular.
I still think editing it better than a) deleting it and b) giving an extra bump by posting in it.
It doesn't give it any extra publicity and also serves as a warning to the poster and anyone else reading it.
