Cant edit post

Yeh, I'm in the same boat at the moment...I make a bit of software on here that gets updated every couple of days...and I use the front page to reflect all the changes and updates, saves me making needless new posts and threads - plus the fact its near impossible to find the info on the new download if its not on the first page.

Any idea when this is going to be restored back to normal, its a bit of a pig there is only 1440 minutes to edit a post.

Also (Mods), now I have your attention too, could you change my thread title from "Laptop Half Arsed Control System" to "ShutControl - Software Shutdown Controller for Laptops". On this thread.

Edit: Please Bring Edit Back!, I've since made 2 updates to my software since Edit has been removed, I'm getting a lot of emails from people complaining about bugs which are fixed in later versions - but according to Post #1 it is the latest version!

I keep my threads organized when they relate to SKIN releases, Software releases, etc., and simply used to edit the first post.

Not being able to edit my first post is bringing me all sorts of troubles and headaches. Like now I have people asking me things like 'whay is the new version link down?'?

If I lose the ability to simply update first post, people won't be able to quickly find the most recent link and info etc. BRING THE EDIT POST BACK!!!!

here's another thing to consider.
Since the reason for this feature being turned off
"is to prevent messages to be edited to the point where the rest of the thread is out of context".
Dosent this also make it so entire threads are useless because over time none of the linked information will likely be available anymore? Which seems to be a bigger issue than context. Once a thread reaches a certain size, most of the post in the middle rarely get read, i for one on larger threads will only read the first few post and last few post and only dig deeper if i have to.

i hope im wrong in thinking this feature maybe wont be turned back on?

im in agreement, this option sucks and should be reverted back to how it was.

not only is this effecting the software posts and the skin posts etc, This will also effect the meet threads. We use the first thread of the chicago meet post to update where were meeting, the date the time etc.

I dont think this is good at all.

there arent many threads that are out of context due to editing

this is a BAD idea for all the reasons mentioned above plus

1) it increases post count and adds to clutter on the forum
2) increased bandwidth to host the additional posts
3) maybe there are alot of unreadable posts in the newbie section but theres not much covered there that hasnt been answered 100 + times in the forums already
4) workogs/ showoff projects
5) DEAD PICTURE LINKS
6 7 8
i think i made my point this is the worst idea ever

I pm'ed him earlier today...its really bugging me. Even when I want to lift text off one of my posts to put on another forum - I can't, without raking through HTML.
