You know, the member rating was pretty useless until us regulars found a use for it. It was another little feature that unlocked peoples creativitity and made this place a bit more fun and interesting.

Of course its Zip Lock's choice whether this feature stays or goes but removing it was bound to **** a few people off, particularly as there was no prior warning or explanation given until it was asked for by a member.

What really gets me is that we weren't breaking any rules, nor were we detrimentally affecting any of the users of this site. However, a spam thread that had links to porn sites and flouted the rules of this site remained for all to see despite it being reported by me and additional not-so-subtle reminders aimed at the admins. It was only after I posted a comment about the rep system in the porn thread that it got removed.

The rep thing was fun while it lasted and no doubt something else will come along soon enough. We'll see how long that avenue of funs lasts before it gets closed off. That just seems to be the way it is on this forum.

I wanted to vote it was great, and also that it was worthless, but I didn't agree with the second part of the second option, so I just voted it was great. IMO, it was pretty worthless as a reputation system, but we found a fun use for it. As did whoever gave that 2000 point single rep, and the inversion of one of our member's rep during a glitch was kind of funny too.

These two smilies ought to be removed . They just encourage people to respond without any info.

Oh yeah, I thought the reps were amusing and harmless
we have thread rankings. i am pretty sure it is easy to bring up the threads in order of rating. all that is needed initially is for the FAQ's to be rated with 5 stars or maybe create a 6th star just for FAQs.

then if people were made more aware of the ratings then other useful threads would come up.

another way is to priotise using number of replies or number of views.

this is not a very hard thing to do i am sure. but i am not a programmer either but i am pretty sure that kind of thing is pretty basic.

FAQs are all in their own forum, just sort them at the top as the primary sort key and use the existing sort as the secondary.

i voted to bring them back. I really dont see a problem with people having a little fun on the site and its not like it was hurting anything. This forum is going the way of many other forums and being run like a slaveship!

the rep system could have been a very valuable tool to this forum.

However, because of the actions of a few who decided to abuse it, it's been taken away.

It turned into nothing more than a clique, and brought absolutely no value to the forum.

You can probably guess what I voted.
