I was going to suggest a Xenarc but the 7" model is $70 more. I'm not sure it's worth it at that price.
well that Xenarc is now discontinued... so I think I am just going to go for the Liliput 629GL-70NP/C/T, this is the 2008 model with the LED backlighting.
If I decide later that I want a larger monitor, I'll just buy me another bezel too... but a 7 inch screen should be ok for a while.

Yeah, I looked at the Xenarc 7, the cost was a contributor to my decision. But, Lilliputs are the norm as far as I can see. The 2008 model I posted before is supposedly way brighter than the older models and does support auto on (VGA) once you access the hidden menu feature.
I'd really like one of those 2008 lilliput LED screens...but cost prohibits it...just like the Transflective.
I actually thought of modding my screen to use LED backlighting though...haven't gone very far with it though
I finally have all the parts I need to remount my screen. Hopefully I can fix the white screen issue that's been getting worse and worse lately.
Hey STL, I live in arnold and thought I would drop you guys a offer. I have tried to get my system installed for over a year and a half and just dont have the time. So I thought I would offer it up to you guys locally. It consist of, a built system in a OPUS Mini-ITX Vehicle PC Case w/ built in 120w power supply. Last I remember it is a cyrix 1gh w/ 512 of ram. And I have a monitor but it is already fiber glassed into a '05 Kia Optima dash molding. The monitor is a Xenarc 7". If anybody is interested I will take pics, or you can come by and I will demo it for you. Best way to reach me is tombunch at charter dot net.

you could always swing by the next meet. The thing about a carpc install is that it DOES take time, and takes a lot for a really sweet setup. If you've already got the screen molded into the dash, and the pc is assembled, what's left? The wiring?
I'll bring the duct tape and sledge hammer.
HARDWARE: Fujitsu Stylistic ST5111w/WiFi and dock, internal Hitachi 500G HD, external 1TB HD, Sierra Wireless Aircard 550, DVD-RW, BoomzBox HD radio, XM Commander, Delorme GPS, Saitek X-52 Pro joystick, BluSoleil Bluetooth, TPMS, FB, Elm327
at least at the next meet the weather may be a bit warmer
depending on when it is I just hope I can make it.
@Etho - if all you have left is basically wiring that's normally not too bad. As long as you have the cables needed at the meet we could probably knock out the wiring in short order. I can bring a toolset and power drill, MachineHead called the duct tape and sledge already. I think Slash has some nice welding equipment...
If it's the OS and software you need, can prolly knock that out as well. Bring your XP disc and drivers for your stuff. I have RoadRunner and some skins, flash, winamp, tweaks and regedits, etc on a USB flash drive.
