Pick a date, guys. I think a lot of you are RIT students, so schedule it when you don't have finals :-)

Until I know the date, I won't know if I can be there but I'll try. I just replaced my D201GLY with an Intel Mac Mini so I've got PC, Mac and I've been experimenting with replacing the whole thing with my iPhone. If you promise not to make fun of my crapola HU and noisy audio wiring we'll have some interesting things to look at.

RIT's schedule lays as the weekend before finals is May 16-17th. I say we should plan for the weekend of May 9-10th. It is normally the weekend with a bit of a lighter load as week 9 tests have just ended and the cramming for finals normally hasn't started yet.

I'm not sure if saturday(9th) or sunday(10th) is better but I would suggest one of those days.

I'm an alum of RIT and from what I can remember unless we can get some club endorsement probably shouldn't meet on campus [although they do have some nice parking lots, haha]

I live downtown, where's everyone coming from? is there a better direction to look?
I'll call around Monday asking if the parks will be charging for entry on the dates we're looking into.

I can get club endorsement and parking lot space at RIT. (Might be a few extra people and jeeps there but it would just be more spectators) Although on weekends they really dont care as long as you aren't being destructive or doing something that would cause a liability issue.

Letchworth would be closer for the more southern crowd and does provide some great sights.

COSTS:
Letchworth starts charging $6/car on May 15th
Hamlin Beach starts charging on May 2nd, but the lady was not very helpful and hung up on me, but I would assume it's around the $6 dollars Letchworth charges.
Port of Rochester no charge

DATES:
May 10th is mothers day, and maybe some of us need to visit our mothers?
May 9th is not a holiday [that i know of] and may be our best bet?

PUTTING IT TOGETHER:
what do we say to an Upstate NY mp3car meet May 9th at Letchworth State Park?
"Activities" to include:
showing off
sharing stories
eating? BBQ?
and any thing else anyone wants to do

thoughts, suggestions, or random babble?

I think I'm the only one South of ROC, it only takes 90 minutes to get there, so I wouldn't worry about doing it at Letchworth unless it is closer for Buffalo folks. How about one of the two parks (don't know which is nicer)?

I'll tentatively be in to attend but not sure what the wife has scheduled just yet. I tend to be informed shortly before it occurs!

According to the AT&T map, Rochester is in the 3G coverage zone for the iPhone. We could schedule a live broadcast from the iPhone mp3car gave me. I haven't checked it out completely, but there are several apps on the iPhone that let you stream live video to the web. We could schedule a broadcast of a couple of the car installations at a certain time for 1/2 hour or something like that.
