I would say if Bugbyte is the only southern person and he doesn't mind a bit of an extra drive we should do it closer to rochester. I can't imagine letchworth being any closer to the buffalo crowd due to indirect roads for travel.

May 9th sounds good.

There is also Genesee valley and highland park just south of the city that are not bad spots to meet. They should be free as well.

Bugbyte: Your 3G service in ROC should be pretty good. I have yet to hear student with iphones complain, and if anyone would do it, it would be them.

I work at the U of R, so I know Genesee Valley pretty well. There are a decent number of parking lots, so long as we were there during the day it should be fine (don't go there at night). I haven't been in Highland in a while, but check the date of the Lilac festival, I imagine it might be crowded. I have also used Mendon Ponds and Powdermill Park for past meets I have organized for another car forum. Powdermill is probably a slightly better location but was crowded when we were there, Mendon Ponds varies.

None of these are state parks, so no entrance fee. If you want to reserve a pavilion it would cost money, but we usually just go find an empty one when we need one.

I change my vote to Genesee valley park.

Sounds Great to me!! If the weather is terrible and we want to be inside then I live a few miles down the road and we can take over the common area of the rental office building.(Comfy chairs too)

I should be able to make that. There are plenty of grills there, should we plan on burgers/dogs? We also will have to pick a spot to meet, as there are several branches to the park (it is split up by both the river and 390).

we may want wait till closer to decide who's bringing what to let the attendance numbers settle.

we normally hang out around here but the whole park is nice.

From past experience, I'd recommend one person buying food and just collecting $5 or whatever from people. Otherwise, you end up getting everyone there, then finding out the person assigned to bring rolls is lost or can't make it after all or some other problem.
