Just an FYI to anyone subscribed from before, we are talking about a possible central il/stl area meet. Just chatting now, but who knows. If you are interested... 2009 St Louis Area Meet: 26 Sept 2009 @ 1200PM

I think this thread should become the main discussion thread and let the "2009 St Louis meet" thread go ahead and die as it should.

We are located in Peru Illinois directly off I-80. I understand that this is a far haul for some of our members, but this would be a middle point for some a lot of the midwestern people such as St. Louis/Iowa/Chicago/Peoria/Bloomington/Indiana members. If there would be any interest, we could set a date to all meet at the dealer. There would be plenty of space for all, we could show off our Car PC and audio systems, no worry of sound police, cook out, hang out, and just have a great time! Our website is jeffperrygm.com. I could add a page for car pc buffs onto our website with pics and video/audio clips of the event. This would be fun for all! We may even have the option of getting radio and tv coverage if this gets big enough. The dealer is very progressive and loves the aftermarket and car show scene in my area.
    Anyone interested?

Since there's a break in the weather in Illinois, now would be a great time for someone to scout out a location for this year. SonicB03 seems to have disappeared off the forum, heezer7 is still quite active as am I. Heezer7 could you try to contact SonicB03 or his dealership(see if he still works there) and find out if the dealership is still interested in hosting the meet. I will be passing through Effingham on Friday and will spend an hour or so scoping out places there.

Unfortunately, with the recent changeover of the forum software, I cant find the members list or members map or meet map, so we'll have to rely on the ressurrection of this thread to generate and tally interest for this year.

I've said it before and Ill say it again:

    Some lessons learned:
    1. You can't please everyone (especially with date and time).
    2. Pick a place with open parking, bathrooms close, and some shade trees.
    3. The place you pick should be easily accessible from major highways.
    4. Free food gets the biggest turnout, but an available grille helps.
    5. The more you advertise, i.e., forum reminders, thread bumps, PMs to the locals, etc., from the day you announce and every week till the event the better.
    6. Thirty to sixty days advance notice is best for others to manipulate their schedules for someone who really wants to attend.
    7. Create a new thread in MP3 Gatherings and title it with the place, time and date. Include a google map of the location as well as GPS coordinates. Keep updating the first post as things change, and they will.

GO FOR IT! As long as its not snowing I'll try to be there.

Now that I've just seen this thread, Duh... the OP's location would have put only an extra 17mins onto my trip. Having it at a dealer ship actually sounded like a nice idea. Though, Giz would miss having the ice man around to brighten his day..

I sent him a PM. I could not find his real name anywhere on his posts or anything. Worse case I will email their internet dept and see if someone can find him. I'll give it a day or two first.

Hey Gizmo.... the Effingham is nowhere near as good as the Effingbacon LOL

I found a place similar to the one in years past but a little more centralized and basicly right off Rt 55. Its very close to LOTS of stuff that people might be interrested in and easy to get to right up Rt 59.

    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...09388&t=h&z=17

anyway, the location is relatively easy to get to without tolls, and as of recently NO CONSTRUCTION!!! Highway traffic is almost always @ speed limit or *(coughs)* slightly above. Its a nicer part of town so theres really no worries of getting "looks" from shady people.

Also if we are interested in moving it back north but not all the way up to Chicago I am in Bloomington and there are TONS of small parks here. 2 examples http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...64187&t=h&z=13

Another place a bit off the beaten path but really nice is http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...32093&t=h&z=14

I would have to go scout out if they have big parking lots besides the main one or 2. I know we dragged it farther south because we had some people interested down there but they haven't responded yet this time.

Definitely don't count me in as anyone who should be a limiting factor for anything (I don't even have anything to show off, besides boxes of parts... not installed), but if it's held Chambana or further south, I'd be up for a little roadtrip if it were late enough in the season. (March & April are a no-way for me) I'd love to come check out some of the setups.
Play with it, 'til it's broke.
