You may find some help there since we have the same truck from the 2nd row of seating forward. I have taken the interior apart enough to know most of it and may even have some extra parts you might want. i.e. lower console bezel to mount a screen in or GM faceplate for the square hole next to the HVAC controls and that kind of stuff.

Thank you' Ill take a look at that. Thank you TrukinMP3 too.

I'd be interested in that lower console bezel...thats the perfect place to fab the screen if you don't want to remove the head unit. What else you got?

I just installed a GM9-AUX to the radio to provide an aux-in. The sound quality is EXCELLENT. I can help you guys out with this if you haven't done it already.

Oh, shoot when you mentioned GM9-AUX it then made me note you have a 2002 GM, I think you have the different interior than mine: (this is the stock picture)

I have an extra insert for that small square storage box next to the HVAC controls, and then I have an extra bezel that goes around the lower section where the two 12v outlets are and the two storage bins down there. I think you have the more rounded version with a door over one of the lower storage bins. I don't have that, but have seen a number of aftermarket replacement console covers with cheap TFTs in there. Here is one:

That screen is NOT a VGA touchscreen in that picture. It's not my truck.
I am a newbie trying to outfit a couple cars with new custom consoles and mini ITX. Click here for my 2003 Chevy Avalanche project.

No, I have a 2000. The 2002 is my Corvette

My interior looks just like that picture, except it is tan not grey plastic. Where did you see the aftermarket covers with lcds built in?

    Pip,

Do you have any current pics of your setup? I'm looking for some ideas. Currently I am not using a HU per se. I miss my old Premier Deck for the ease of poping in any CD I like, I do Have a DVD drive on my laptop, but it is nowhere the same. So far that is my only complaint. I'v been thinking of going back to a HU ,but I don't have too much room left. Is everyone still ok with meeting in January?

Not installed yet...I had the PC running in the corvette for a while but I'm switching it to the suburban. The PC is sitting under the 2nd row seat, the screen is sitting above the center console but nothing is wired up.

I can take pictures of the PC itself if you want.

I was mainly curious of weather you were using a HU? Factory? Do you think it will be ready by January? I'm hoping to have all the bugs worked out of mine by then.

Factory, I just installed a GM9-AUX adapter from logjam electronics to add an input to the factory stereo. Sounds pretty good, no noise at all.
