very sorry guys, turns out my dad's operation rendered him being unable to drive. He was debating whether to drive but akin to the advice of the surgeon I said not to drive. Dammit, now that's 2 meets in a row I've missed! Next time I'll be there!

New Car PC in progress for the new car!
Gidday guys,
I have to lol, cause on that particular Sunday I was at the Puter Market @ Box hill attempting to source some stuff for my installation
Wouldnt mind hooking up next time with you lot to check out what you have done and hopefully share my work, should my lilliput 8' arrive before then..
Anyway, I managed to pick up an HP e-pc C10. Its a P3 866 with a tiny footprint for around 130 bucks. (about the same size as the epia's) no HDD but 128meg of ram. slim CD, No pci slots, pretty basic, but all I need for mp3, SVCD video, a cam and a bit of USB wifi and dongle heaven. The clinch was that it runs on 19v, so no inverters required, just a bloody overpriced regulator from jaycar.
So Ive added an 80 gig seagate, the bios is only supposed to support 65 gig, but for some reason it was happy.. Got 2k running on it last night
, Im using xp/2k lite to slim it down and have IIS installed cause im considering designing my own web interface for media navigation. > might go meedio or have a look at sourceforge.
Put it in the car this evening, hooked up a monitor, got the regulator all hooked up, audio out into line in... FANTASTIC. no ugly electronical disturbance noise to be heard, even with a little bit of revving, couldnt tell the difference between a CD and mp3.
So anyway, keen to meet up next time, hopefully Ill have figured out a way to affix the touchscreen in some stealth like manner in the falcon.
Cheers!
Damn,...i should really check the forums more often..would have loved ro come along to the meet..and box hill's only 20 mins from my place
ill have to come along to the next one i spose, will prob have the box installed by then

I'm wondering if i should bother spending the money to build a sensor network in the car so i can tell whats happening with the whole car like the BMW i-drive system etc.
Also as some of you might know i have to turn my pc on and off manually.
Im gonna be building something to turn the pc on when you turn the keys to ACC ao im gonna ask if anyone would be interested in buying 1 if i make a few?
I'll give u more details on what it can do but 1 of the main functions is turnong the pc on once you turn the key to acc on (of course u need a psu or inverter that survives crank)

i could be wrong here but genraly the PC is just a momentery switch that bridges 2 jumpers on the motherboard, right? well why dont you just wire that upto the "start" position of the ignition rather then the acc? mabey use a 5 volt relay with a 12 volt switch, or mabey im just talking out of my ***
