It is probably required by law if the "event" exceeds certain limits... I know a lady who has lawnmower races at her house and has to get event insurance. She is required by law also to have an ambulance or fire crew at the event. That may be a Fla thing though, related to the racing of lawnmowers.

Man, there's a hundred things just like this to attend to. I never would have thought about that. Is there some kind of "how to plan an event" guidance that the city government gives out? You'd hate to find out you needed some kind of wacky permit at the last minute...
