Picking a middle spot like that though will probably minimize your turn out since it's a good 3hr drive for both of the major population centers in California.
Exactly. Personally, I am not sure if I would attend if it was in SLO no matter where I was (Nor Cal at home, or So Cal at school.) As said, it is almost 3 hours from either, and I just couldn't justify the cost. I paid $3.07 a gallon for gas today... you get the idea.

Well, if we make it in So cal. Lets make it in San Diego.

Once were done with the meet, we can go into Tijuana, MX. for some cheap alcohol and cheap girls.

Theres a very nice stadium here named Qualcomm Stadium (Yes, Qualcomm did buy it). Nice thing about this stadium is that it's about an 8min drive to Fry's (you know all you guys practically live there)

I'd be up for a festival though.

    Peace,

    Rafster

I am flying into Las Vegas. If we did it there that really wouldn't be a California Festival but it could also be fun.

I really like the five acre idea. Maybe if only 100 people want to go that could be cool.

    SLO could also work.

I vote San Louis Obispo or Pismo Beach, I was just their this weekend, tons of camping.

Im acutually wanting to buy a sand rail now ...
you can drive a 2wd car on the beach most the time, and their isint much noise issues their with all the atvs and stuff.

Somewere near SLO is good. I drove there to visit CalPoly.
*Note*: Traffic sucks on the 101. I went 16mph for 1 hour (that's w/o accidents on the 101)!
I got their in 3hours flat on a friday afternoon...

EDIT: You can see the outcome of using 20's on dunes http://www.webdogpro.com/content/view/261

For something like this I can spend some gas money and do it. Its not like there will be another one the next month or anything. I think there are plenty of us who would make the trek, not to mention doing in it a college town like SLO would draw plenty of locals to the event and be a great way of spreading the word about these projects.
If its in SoCal or NorCal it may as well just be billed as any other meet in this section since thats all that will be able to show up is the people that already live there.
Also, being on a Saturday you may even be able to work sonething out with CalPoly to use their parking lots/facilities.
    Spent so far: $1,755

But there are like 3 cities within 10 minutes so any of those would work too. Plus I think there is an old army base on the road between SLO and the beach so that would hold all the cars you would ever need to park and be a good place to throw a festival. There is also a Junior College that could work. And plenty of bars/pubs to have fun in afterwards. Hell, I think they even have a topless smoothie bar (or at least, they did at some point).
