Monterey and Santa Cruz are WAY too far North for the LA/SD folks. That's like picking Santa Barabara or Santa Monica -- sheesh.

If you're looking for a middle spot, Pismo is pretty much it unless you want to head inland back into the valley (Fresno) or even further in (Nevada / Las Vegas). Still unless this thing is done up something fierce (crazy partying, nakied women, donkey show, ...), I can't imagine getting a huge turn out since it's 3hrs+ for almost everyone. Maybe you need two festivals to cover a state as large as California?

    California Mp3Car.com Festival - November 5, 2005

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to have an Mp3Car.com Sponsored Festival in California.

    Date: Saturday, November 5, 2005
    Location: TBD

I need help from all CA peeps for picking a place.

    1. Parking for 200+ cars
    2. Can we organize a band?
    3. Ziplock will probably come and maybe some other celebrities from the Mp3Car staff.
    4. Must be able to have alcohol
    5. Must have BBQ Grills (or volunteers to bring some portable ones)
    6. How about someplace between LA and the Bay area?
    7. Hotel nearby or camping onsite?
    9. Beach or Forest type setting?
    10. I am going to call some of my press contacts so plan on being in the news.
    11. We have a small budget for this event. Don’t hesitate to tell us where to spend some money.
    12. Anyone that plans to drink should plan to camp. I am definitely camping.
    13. If we had a lawyer they would probably tell us not to provide any booze so it is BYOB.
    14. Video/audio webcast of the event on Mp3Car.com?
In order to make this event a huge success, we need to define what would make a success. We need to get the general public involved. The more people we have, the better. We want to enlighted non-mp3 car public and show them what our systems are capable of and why they are better than OEM solutions. We want to inspire them to install systems in their cars too. Therefore, we should alter our goals:

    1. Advertise Advertise Advertise everywhere
    2. Location should be near a major population area to maximize visitor turnout (LA, OC, San Diego)
    3. Alcohol consumption will only be allowed in a designated 21+ area so
    4. Absolutely no BYOB because this will be an all ages event
    5. BBQ a must
    6. Live band or DJ would be great

Qualcomm stadium or any large parking lot would be ideal.

    Yeah, 2 votes for Qualcomm!

Cmon guys, remember, it's close to Mexico + 3 min away from Fry's, + 3 min away from one of those Really Hot Girl malls (Fashion Valley ). Cmon DJdrew, tell me I'm wrong...

    Peace,

    Rafster

    Exclamation

NorCal SoCal NorCal SoCal too much of it going on…

If we want it to be big we need to make where everyone will be able to come to.

I wouldn’t have a problem with this if all going on if it was a SoCal person voting for NorCal visa-versa but all I’m seeing is that none of you guys want to drive!!!

It’s getting annoying to keep checking this thread and seeing that!

I still think SLO would be perfect since there is tons of parking, and Camping and Hotels…

People are afraid of high gas prices

Suggestion here for Bakersfield, but then there's nothing really to see there... and its a bit closer to LA. Its probably cheaper than getting a place at the beach.

At this point I think we've debated it into the ground. I see 3 camps: The SoCal's that don't want to drive north, the NorCal's that don't want to drive south, and the sensible one's who realize that SLO is directly in the middle of both places. Now its up to the Admin's that are throwing this event to make a decision. If it ends up in LA, great, have fun and post pics. If it's in SLO then I look forward to meeting all those who make the trek in person.
I also agree with DJDrew's list of things that it will need. The more organized the better. The more advertising the better. The more food and beer vendors the better. It would be nice to show up to a well thought out and put together event then a parking lot meet.
