What would it take to get a national meet?

I know that there was one a while back that was being worked on, but it kinda fell apart.

What do you think it would take to get a meet put together?

What would you want to see there? And lets be reasonable here, especially for a first meet.

Obviously a more central location would be nice, but possibly a couple of meets? One more towards the west coast and one more towards the east coast? One more centrally located too maybe?

I know that previously there was mention of speakers, etc, but I honestly believe that more of a show and shine type thing would be more interesting for most. Thoughts?

    Lets get some input here!

I think there should be an east coast and a west coast meet. West Coast should be around Las Vegas IMO.

What should we see there: contests. How-TOs (bondo, filler, abs cement, etc). Software installation demonstrations.

if the majority wants it to be a convention more so than a meet so be it. I'm not so sure though personally that I would be interested in making it to something like that.

I also understand that the crowd that would be attending is a bit more interested in things along those lines.

How would you pay for such things? Or would you approach individuals to simply donate their time and money to show up for that purpose?

I'm envisioning something like an education convention, and quite honestly, that doesn't interest me in the least....hehe but hey - this is just a start!

I'm just recycling ideas from the old thread that I haven't read in months.

Boot me out if you think I'm butting in, but some observations across the pond which may or may not be valid.

From what we have learnt in the UK (granted we are about as big as your states but I think these observations will be more valid in your case).

the first Nat meet we held was for one day in a field central to most. It was a basic show and tell with a hastily arranged competition. best dash, best boot, most ghetto, best overall, and most original idea. Prizes were donated by UK suppliers we got to come down.

the last one (4th meet) was over a whole weekend with some people staying the whole weekend, others just coming for the one day. again the same competitions, but also some fun things like go carts, minor off road rally, xBoxs/playstation on big screens. etc.

Oh and barbecues as well for food.

    so my recommendations

    1. try and make it as central as possible
    2. make it a Friday night to Sunday afternoon thing (gives more people the chance to turn up at least one of the days)
    3. Try to get suppliers involved, they can set up a little stall and maybe sell some products at a small discount (and of course no delivery charges ). They may want to supply prizes for comps like ours do.
    4. Have other things to do IE that kids will be able to do then people with kids will be able to bring their kids and be happy they won't be bored. (that again will allow more people to attend).

As I said just a few suggestions from across the pond.

Absolutely not! We wanna hear it!

This is kinda what I was thinking for a first meet as well. Just have to find judges, etc.

I was also thinking about seeing if someone would be willing to host a USACi single or double point event. USACi has car audio shows AND car shows...

Oh and barbecues as well for food.
Agreed, once we knew how many people, getting someone to cater shouldn't be hard...cater like BBQ or even have someone bring a grill and offer to cook.

    1. try and make it as central as possible
That's why I was mentioning having maybe 3 meets, spread out over different months at different locations across the nation. Being that it's 3000 miles + just for us to go out to cali and back, I think that having a few different meets spread out would help get attendance up. And if you spread them out, you might have a few people who can make more than one show at a time.

    3. Try to get suppliers involved, they can set up a little stall and maybe sell some products at a small discount (and of course no delivery charges ). They may want to supply prizes for comps like ours do.
I was thinking the same thing as well!

Will have to get some ideas on this one!

Everyone is a judge, you hand out voting slips.

Oh yeah forgot, make sure you have indentication slips that can be filled in for the cars with MP3car.com username (assuming they have one), real name, and brief description of install.

Also have same (but smaller) for the people to wear.
