Haunted House sounds real fine! My vote is Oct 28th. The best haunted houses that I've been to have been done by little towns in abandoned houses....More likely for disfigurement. Please, no goody, goody two-shoes haunted houses! I just got cingular wireless internet for my house and Pickup. Dang external PCMCIA device is hard to find cheap.

PCMCIA > USB adapter for wireless cards

I hear ya BigTime, I went with the Kyocera K1 router instead. Not much more expensive and has a lot more functionality and features to it.

Thanks RedGti!!! What PCMCIA card are you using, and you are with Cingular, Right? This is turning into a heck of a deal. You understand! I'm definately getting it figured out, but now that I have read lots of the forum, all of the talk about getting the net cheaper and even free is perplexing. Maybe you have looked into all of this. I doubt any of their methods have great speeds upwards of 700k. Can you please save me an assload of time, so I won't look into all of it.

Oh, if you're not with Cingular. Who are you with and have you compared the internet carriers...: sprint verizon T-Mobile etc.

If tons of people don't have probs meeting on Oct. 28th, by Oct. 7 it should be set in stone. This might be a bad weekend as Halloween weekend is huge!

Oh so true. And in light of that and that there'll be alot of parties that weekend that I don't want to have to miss the meet to attend, I suggest the 21st. By then the haunted houses will be in full swing and there might not be all that many peoplethere then.

    So how about the 21st?

The coverage is as follows as I had it explained to me:

Verizon has the most broad coverage
    Then Sprint
    and Cingular is the worst.

And yet I'm a cingular customer and have nary an issue with coverage.
I can say that Cingular's coverage is excellent, but I have no clue how it compares to Verizon or Sprint.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

No matter who has the most coverage area, Cingular has better all around service. I'm not stating this as fact because there are people who will disagree, but from everything I've seen and all the times I've heard people curse their phones, Sprint just sux all around. Verizon, in all it's marketting wonders, fails somehow to meet any of their advertisements. They not only have intermittent service all the time, but no service sometime, and on top of that, they suck as a company. But for that matter, none of them are really great on the business end.

I have cngular and can get service almost anywhere. I know people in Maryland and California that use the broadband cards from Cingular and they have very good luck with them. Not all the time, but most all the time.

    ...better of all evils.

    Chris - that's your experience.

My experience with Cingular lead me to get a lawyer to write them a letter because they kept charging me for things that I didn't ask for and wouldn't take care of the bill the way they should.

Monte has been with sprint for years. At east 4 years now, I believe more like 6.

I've been on it since meeting him.

I FINALLY have a good cell phone company!

Regarding coverage, remember, I'm not talking about cellular service. I'm talking about broad band service. Not all areas are BROAD BAND ready. Coverage means BROAD BAND coverage, NOT CELLULAR coverage. Remember, we're talking about BROAD BAND CARDS here.

Sorry, but any time someone flat out states that all else sucks, and what 'I' have is best, it's usually because they haven't experienced the other things and can't see past their own needs and wants to understand that different companies exist for a reason.

The ENTIRE trip to Atlanta, I was online, while at the speedway, I was online, I dropped service two times on the way out there, all because we were literally in the middle of no where. No power lines, no houses, no gas stations, nothing.

I remember when I had cingular back in college station, I'd have my calls dropped all the time, hell, many times I couldn't even dial out. I had to pay for a home phone, because I couldn't get coverage in my apartment...yet others with other companies could get coverage just fine.

Again, different companies exist for a reason, to fill a need that's been unmet in the market.

I have a cell phone with sprint, why would I change carriers just for this broad band card?

When I researched the options, I was thinking about it, possibly. I looked at broad band coverage maps and prices.

Verizon was most expensive, sprint was in the middle, and cingular was the cheapest.

Verizon had the most coverage, spring was in the middle and cingular was worst.

Remember all, different cars exist for a reason. Different brands of soft drinks exist for a reason, different software exists for a reason, all because there's an unmet need out there. Just because it's what works best for you doesn't mean that the next person is stupid for going a different route, it's probably because their meeds don't meet yours.

Afterall, I could sit here and say that not being willing to spend the money on X amplifier and Y speakers is stupid, because these are the best there is, PERIOD. Just doesn't make sense!

    Jan,

I have a nickname on my account for a reason.

As for service, I'm glad you could get reception all the way there and back. That's awesome, but I know of 3 people that tried their broadband service and took it back because they had about the opposite experience. I know many people that HATE Sprint with a passion because of the way they do business and the problems they have had with the hardware and service. I know people that feel almost as violent about Verizon too.

Then you have people like you who have good experiences with Sprint, and the other Chris who have had almost nothing but good experiences with Verizon. I even know of a person that likes T-Mobile as odd as that sounds.

TRUTH is, the contract and complacency is what keeps cell phone companies alive. Some people switch back and fourth so much it's stupid, and some stay with the company they have becasue they are either too lazy to switch or don't feel it's worth the trouble of getting a new phone and number.

They all suck in their own ways, but from my experiences... yes, what I have seen and heard, Cingular has the best cellular network, most of the best phones, and their broadband services is very good too. The people I know that have the cards get very good access and love them. That's my *experience*.
