The handbrake wire is currently non-functional, this may change in the future so you should hook up the handbrake wire. Certain features are currently disabled based on the GPS.
What is the handbrake wire supposed to be used for currently?
Currently I am just testing the G4 in my home hooked up to a PC power supply, and the hanbrake wire is NOT hooked up. But I don't see any loss of functionality in StreetDeck - GPS, movies, and music all work.
I'm getting my G4 installed Thursday... want to tell the installer to hook up that wire to prevent any loss of functionality in the future for the passenger while I'm driving.

I dont know if this is releated, but ive found that the screen will turn off on reverse. Any way to turn that off.
This must be because the video input is switched to the rear view camera. If you've got none, you get the blank screen.
Don't know an easy way but I probably wouldn't connect the back gear wire if I didn't have a rear view camera...
Yes, this is because it switches to the reaview camera. Simply leaving that wire unhooked will make it not switch.

I've looked eslewhere and haven't found it, but what are the certain features that are disabled based on the GPS? Video Playback?
Yes, typically it's for video playback, internet browsing, and searching of any kind that requires you to look at the screen for any length of time.
How about the RCA video out? Will the GPS disable DVD playback to the secondary monitor or is the system unable to differentiate between the two and prevents DVD playback altogether?
Also, does anyone know if it is StreetDeck that monitors this or is it hardwired into the system?
