I have front speaker audio now. I just turned the front speakers up to almost maximum in the Roadie soundcard's control panel (they were set to about 50%, which worked fine for Winamp and for the Roadie's test mode, but for whatever reason is not enough for Streetdeck).

Unfortunately, I have not even attempted to plug in my G4 with Streetdeck since it looks like this is not the wife-friendly head unit product it was advertised to be. What a waste of money to have this thing sitting on my desk. Why isn't there a way to obtain InfilStation so we can be assured of basic functionality of the G4 after we install it? Your company always speaks of how important safety is when driving. I don't know of anything more UNSAFE that a ****ed off person driving down the freeway after his head unit crashes or doesn't work properly!
We have a very active forum and downloadable online updates. Shipping out a restore DVD just makes patching easier, if you want to download and apply the update manually yourself, thats certainly an option. We can't offer ISO downloads in the same way as regular updates because aside from being an unreasonably large 4 gigs, the licensing for much of the included software would preclude this. We also are not going to ship out a new restore DVD until we know it fixes all the issues with the G4. Unfortunatly we haven't been able to duplicate all the problems ourselves and we do require feedback from those having the issues to determine thier status and pinpoint the cause.

Infillstation does not have navigation, doesn't work with external sound cards, does not work with flac files, and wouldn't do most of the things that we have heard about StreetDeck not doing right. We have already made a large number of fixes for the problems and missing features that have been reported. We are testing these now and will officially release them as soon as they have been verified. If you have any issues that have already been reported, you call the store and they can probably walk you through some work arounds until we release a more permenant fix.

Actually, Streetdeck is really cool aside from the instability and major audio problems. I have been messing with it on my G4 here on the desk. I guess I will go ahead and install it next weekend. I will just tell the wife not to use the navigation. Every time I go into browse mode and try to pan, the G4 reboots itself. Music wise, it seems pretty solid.

Are the recovery DVDs going out to all of the G4 owners or does everyone have to call in? I already made an image of the HD before I did anything, so I could restore the system to the way it was shipped if I mess anything up.

I will join in on the testing and hopefully try some mods and skins also. Glad to see you are working on these problems.

Radio and External USB sound card issue

A suggestion for the disappointed souls who bought the USB sound card and found the radio and fader/balance controls in SD do not work..

Instead of a USB sound card, you might try a Rockford 360.1 or 360.2.

Both these DSP/EQ units have speaker level inputs and the sound quality is excellent. This way you can use SD fader/balance and radio controls.

The 360.1 can be had for $300-$350 and the 360.2 can be had for $600-$650.

The 360.2 has a 31 band EQ and each speaker can be set individually.

Best part is, the 360.1 and .2 both use Bluetooth and Rockford's Windows, Windows Mobile, or Palm based software.

    Hi,
    thanks for the info.
I'm wondering if you can help me draw a mental picture of the connections.
So we take the low level speaker outs from the G4 and run them into the 3sixty, and then from the 3sixty into the rockford amp that's already under my seat? or did I miss something?
The rockford site doesn't explain things very well.

    Cheers,

That would be one way of doing it.

Do you just have one amp for your system? Does that one Rockford amp run everything or just your 4 speakers?

So does the G4 have High Level Outs (like the 3sixty wants) or Low Level Outs like Reapur asked in his question?

    Thanks.

The G4 has only front and rear speaker outs, so high level only. It has low level center and sub outs also. The amp in the G4 is actually pretty good. I am very happy with the output @ 44 watts per channel. I thought I would need an amp, but the thing is plenty loud and doesn't distort my Polk speakers at all, even at high volume.
