    Polarity of reverse sense wire?

My installer was asking what the expected polarity of the reverse sense wire is for the reverse camera. Right now, when they hook it up directly, it comes on when the car is not in reverse. They indicated most head units with that feature tend to have a polarity setting somewhere, but no such setting can be found on the Infill. This information appears to be missing from the manual as well.

    Thanks

You should hook up +12 volts to activate the camera. You can use a relay to reverse the polarity.

I have hocked up my reverse camera.

When car is off and I put it into reverse all works fine. When car is running it will not activate..

My reverse wire is Gnd until reverse is selected then it is +12.

Can anyone think of why it would make a difference when the car is running????

Another issue that could be related. When I put my lights on, the screen dims but every couple of seconds it flickers to bright then dark again.

Could this be a Gnd issue on the device?

Any ideas as this is driving me nuts.

Have you used a volt meter to test if the reverse wire is +12 when the car is on and in reverse and gnd otherwise?

Does the reverse camera activate when the car is on if you just hook up +12 directly from the battery to the reverse activation line? If this is true, you should just try putting a relay on the reverse light line and passing the +12 from the car through it.

    Yes used volt meter.

It is GND unless in reverse then +12
I can try a Relay however i dont think it will make much diffrence as the voltages seem correct.

I also have an issue with the lights. THe screen flickers when they are on. I think it could be related with the device having a floating GND or something weird.

I have put in a Relay in line for the headlights and for the reverse wire.

    All fixed.

Seems very weird that i had to do that though.

On my infill T3...If I hooked up the dimmer line(The one that is attenuated by the knob on my dash to dim control the brightness of all the dash lights), I would get flickering on the lights on the infill as well. If I turned up the dimmer to the max I didnt get any flickering, but as soon as I started to dim the lights it would flicker.

Sounds like the same issue you were describing on your G4. This I believe is due to the led's on the Infill. The led's weren't meant to operate at varying voltages to dim so they are either on or off. I hooked up a non attenuated line to the infill and all is well.

Not sure on the backup line as I dont have mine connected...yet.
