G4 for the serious audio competitor?

I was just informed of this unit today and honestly it didnt sound like something for me but then again looking at it from a different view it sounds perfect.... problem is after reading a few threads it doesnt sound like its even close to what i had imagined. Anyway is there any possiblity of customizing this unit beyond the drop down options when ordering?

What i NEED from this unit is
5.1 capablity with seperate RCA outs for each channel (a nice voltage rating of 5-8 per output is great anything less then 4 isnt optimal)
a bigger HD (can i replace the current one with any one i want and if so can i order it empty)
5.1 DVD audio playing capability (would i be able to get some software to play those disks or how would that work?)
Dual layer DVD compatablity (didnt read anything in the manual so i assume it comes with a cd write dvd read combo drive... can i replace with my own and order it blank?)

also from what ive read from a few threads it seems like theres alot of bugs currently.... do i have to be a computer guru to opperate this damn thing?

If you want to hook the G4 up to an amplifier you need an external sound card. There is an option for one sold with the G4. It is 5.1 capable and DVDs should play with whatever mode the sound card is set to assuming the DVD supports it.

You should be able to change DVD player if you can find a new one that fits, but its not possible to order it without the DVD. You should be able to add whatever standard computer hardware you want to the G4 after you purchase it and it should work.

The major initial bugs have already been fixed and the new G4s are now shipping with version 1.0.9.8 so it should work well out of the box.

ok... is the "Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Roadie USB Audio Adapter" the external sound card? any pics of this unit?

about the stock dvd unit included is it just a cd-rw/dvd combo that can write cds?

would this fit in the infill case?

also the main reason for me getting a car pc vs a regular audio deck is for the hard drive and the ablitily to watch music videos (all mine are either avi or mpg format) would street deck allow me to watch videos or would i have to do that on windows?

Any modifications to the g4 will void your warranty. The unit you have linked here is similar to what is in the g4 and should fit, but we haven’t tested it, it certainly isn’t supported, and again will void your warranty.
StreetDeck will let you play videos when you are stopped.
