My Infill G4 hard drive crash!

Well, I turned on my G4 and heard that infamous hard drive clicking....my heart sank. I turned off the G4, plugged in a keyboard to look at the bios and upon booting, it does see the hard drive as primary master, but eventually comes to the screen to insert a bootable device and while all this is booting up I hear that clicking sound from the hard drive.

And help to restore my hard drive is appreciated. I don't see that there is a restore cd or image available yet, or did I miss it?

Out of curiosity which hard drive (size) do you have? I read elsewhere that there is a restore disk available for those who need it.

On the next batch we might concider offering the seagate ee25 drives:

that would be nice but the biggest they offer is 40gb

My order was from the first batch of G4's, and only came with the 40gb hdd. I would love to install a larger hdd so I can fill it up with music videos and mp3. 40gb really isn't that much for all the G4 can do.

dally28 - I would recomend calling the store tomorrow and telling them about your situation. Ask for Adam. He should be able to set you up with the restore CD since you're in a special situation.

Thanks, they are getting a restore dvd to me, pheww. I finally get it to boot up if I keep the Windows XP dvd in the drive and do a hard reset. Hmm, very weird, maybe something with the boot section.

would it be possible to run multiple of those with an infil? like somehow hook a few of them together in a case and run it off usb?

When might that be? I'd be interested in having the more durable drive, even though its limited to 40GB.
