This is not a wireless mic. It's a wired mic. It's not an issue in the car considering where every mic is installed in the cars.

Ok, well your options are limited, but it can be done. VW's/Audi's Canbus protocol is proprietary (VAG-COM) and this makes it difficult to get all of your functions operating if you try to use a universal solution.

As far as I am aware, Blaupunkt is the only brand of radio that can seamlessly interface to all the steering wheel controls in a VW (Blaupunkt handles most of the OEM audio cores for VW... I cannot tell you for sure that this is the case for Audi, you will have to look into that!) The CarPC setup that I have seen work is a single-din Blaupunkt single-din HU stored in the glovebox. The audio is run out from the CarPC to the Aux in of the Blaupunkt, and then out from the Blaupunkt to your amp. The Blaupunkt HU can also accomodate an optional Canbus adapter. This adapter connects to your canbus interface and allows all steering wheel buttons to funtion the way they would with the OEM headunit.

You'll need to do more research from there to make sure your Audi would work the same way (I suggest checking out the Audi section of the VWVortex forums for more info. There is a ton of good stuff there and the people are very helpful). Also be aware that not every Blaupunkt HU has the canbus connection on it, so make sure the models you look at include that.

It still looks phenomenal -- an order of magnitude better than ANYTHING I've seen out there. Period. I *really* want that Infill Station program. There has got to be somewhere to get it? I'd gladly buy it. Isn't it free with the G4 by default in Korea anyways? Why can't you get it and make it available to us? :-|

Because our agreement with Infill does not allow for it.

It doesn't make sense to do that because most people actually want to use thier carputers, not just admire how pretty they look. I agree InfillStation looks great, but in many places it good looks come at the expense of usability and without Satellite Radio, Navigation, TV, and Bluetooth for use in the US, it leaves you with a program that can just do Music, Videos, and DVDs and if thats all you want, your better off just getting an iPod. On top of that if you actually want to find a new video or music file to play, they forgot to show you the screen shot of it using the generic windows file open dialog to add a new file you need to use to do so.

    better yet...
Since StreetDeck is completely skinnable, why dont' you reproduce something close to the InfillStation software for use in StreetDeck?
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

The G4 is sold without Disk and Memory, barebone, at other sites outside the US so you would have to open it up to add the Disk and Memory. Is adding memory and disk on those system going to void the warranty, I think not.

    See:

So here is my question. Why should upgrading the disk drive void the warranty?

Plus if I remember US law correctly I don't think upgrading the disk/memory is allowed to void the basic warranty.

Go look at any laptop you can find at any retail store. Turn it over. 99% of the time you will find a sticker or sticker(s) covering one or several of the screws that says if the sticker is tampered with, the warranty is void. The chances of us screwing something up by dissecting a G4 or a laptop are substantially higher than upgrading something in a desktop.

I understand what your saying but FYI, I've not seen a PC or Notebook in several years with such a sticker. HP tried to do that years ago and got shot down hard and I think it was the FTC that fired the gun.

I've got T60 Thinkpads at work that you have to remove the keyboard to upgrage the memory, with a keyboard cable that's not hard to break if your not careful, which does not void the warranty.

I guess my point is since the manufacture released a barebones version I don't see where they have a leg to stand on about voiding the warranty when it comes to upgrading parts that the user would have had to install in the first place.

    IMHO
