Hmmmm! same here I can see and browse my 160GB xternal HDD in windows but SD does not see it!

You mentioned that almost any GPS receiver will work with the new street deck. I noticed in some of the movies that movement of the GPS is quite jerky and refreshes at about 1 Hz. Is this a limitation of the default GPS receiver, or is it a limitation of the software? If I plugged in one of those expensive Ublox or Tyco integrated dead reckoning GPS receivers, will it the jerkiness smooth out? Will the car's location be refreshed at a higher refresh rate? Or will Street Deck's GPS software be forever confined to jerky 1Hz refresh rates?

Almost all the gps software is 1hz refresh rate, so if you use a 5hz gps receiver it will still be 1hz because of the software.

That's too bad... does SD have plans in the foreseeable future to improve software refresh rate and make it a software update? I suspected as much because I know the nav software is microsoft, but is there any way to smooth it out eventually and make it near-OEM in navigation baby butt smoothness? Rough jerky grandma *** isn't really my cup of tea...

Lastly, I read somewhere the screen is not transflective. How hard would it be to apply an anti-glare coating (wouldn't even know where to look) or to swap it out with one of MP3Car.com's sunlight readable units? I know I'll lose the warranty but there's still possibilities for when the warranty period has past!

StreetDeck already smooths the GPS data. Its an option under navigation settings.

The Infill screen already includes an anti glare coating. Its really pretty good in the sunlight. Its better then the standard xenarc and lilliput screens we sell on mp3car.

There is no easy or known way to upgrade the screen.

Another question ... when I install the G4 on a 2002 Passat, does it fit directly into the double din or should I get a frame for it?

    Infill G4

    It has not been good.
I have it now installed in my BMW 330ci.
I have not made it to a destination yet without the Nav crashing completely. As for the DVD player, it dosn't play in the streedeck software but will play in the windows media player. The POI screen in the Nav just locks the unit up. The dvd entry dock dosn't take the dvd until you hsve forced it down tits throat, and then the door dosn't shut. I know this sounds bad, but its the truth about this unit. Positive points. Best screen and interface I have ever seen in a car. It looks awesome, I just want it to work.
