No matter what I do SD does not see my USB HDD which is plugged in to one of the USB ports in the rear
I can browse the HDD in windows but SD does not show it under the DVD drive as you suggested, or anywhere else.
I tried changing the HDD from "optimized for quick removal" to "optimized for best performance"and vise-versa , I tried putting an .sdu file on the root and made SD "search removable drives for updates", I even tried dragging it in to SD but no luck
I was almost thinking of using partition manager in order to make it part of the C:\ DRIVE.
Thump drives show up in SD every time.
Can you please look into it
    Thank you!

Report it as a bug in the StreetDeck section, be specific about what type of drive you are using.

I have it now installed in my BMW 330ci.
I have not made it to a destination yet without the Nav crashing completely. As for the DVD player, it dosn't play in the streedeck software but will play in the windows media player. The POI screen in the Nav just locks the unit up. The dvd entry dock dosn't take the dvd until you hsve forced it down tits throat, and then the door dosn't shut. I know this sounds bad, but its the truth about this unit. Positive points. Best screen and interface I have ever seen in a car. It looks awesome, I just want it to work.

Yeah, I had the GPS mode lock up SD a couple of times while playing with it (just zooming out) while the G4 is just sitting in my bedroom. But I haven't been able to reproduce it.

Maybe the DVD player needs the handbrake cable hooked up and the handbrake applied? It doesn't need to be in my case, but maybe that's just a fluke. I only tested one DVD (The Terminator) and it crashed the standalone Media Player but worked fine in SD. Though I just upgraded to Media Player 11 last night so maybe that would fix it for standalone MP as well (can't test right now since I'm waiting for my new 120GB HD to swap for the 40GB).

I know what you mean about the DVD drive slot. It really should start auto-pulling on the DVD when it has been inserted less than is currently necessary. Though I did NOT have a problem closing the screen with the DVD inserted... that doesn't sound right.

Quick question from a total newbie. Is the g4 powered by the power from the car's cable harness? In other words, I get a cable to plug into my car's (2001 Rav4) wiring harness, splice the wires into the appropriate wires on the g4, and voila, done? I guess what I am really asking is does the g4 require external power other then that provided by the harness my current factory installed head unit is plugged into? Thanks for any info you can provide me.

It installs just like any other head unit on the market.

As such, you will need to purchase a wiring harness to install it in your particular vehicle.

You do not need to provide it with any other power.

Thank you for the quick response. Great looking product. I think I am very likely to get one.

Yes. It is double DIN capable. I just have to order the OEM Navi (double DIN bezzel) and it will allow double DIN deck to be mounted. Thanks.
